# 1 Romulan Temporal Ambassador
05-21-2013, 03:28 PM
There's been plenty said about the "Legacy of Romulus" Romulan faction and storyline and the new KDF content, but there's something I haven't seen, heard or read anything about that I'm somewhat curious about.

Will Romulans have access to the "Temporal Ambassador" mission like Starfleet and KDF characters do? and if so, will they also have the option of being rewarded with a ship like the Starfleet Ambassador and KDF Kamarag?

I believe that a Romulan character will have access to this mission, after they choose an ally. But once they choose their ally, and play the mission, you get the ship that your ally would get... Ambassador for FED, Karmarag for KDF.

If the Holodeck is anything like Tribble that is exactly what happens. I have a Rom with a Fed ship.

Ah, that makes sense - reduces the number of things to be added if they do that, doesn't it?

Romulan Kamarag, okay, just think the TOS Romulan D-7's...

But a Romulan Ambassador? Does anyone else find the idea somewhat ironic that Romulans - albeit Republic and not Star Empire - like the ones that destroyed the Enterprise-C now can get one of her sister ships? Not saying I have a problem with it, just that it seems a little odd when one looks at it that way...

As the Guardian of Time would say:

TIME TRAVEL

At least it's not a predestination paradox where you were in fact the Romulan that blew up the Enterprise-C because it was the only way to get back to your own time.

Star Trek has enough of those thank you.

Considering "Temporal Ambassador"'s premise - i.e. Tasha Yar and the Enterprise-C being waylaid en route to a historical battle against the Romulans - wouldn't playing as a Romulan character in that mission be just a touch awkward story-wise? (Remember that Tasha Yar has never heard of the Romulan Republic before.)

I suppose Romulan pride would say better to be free survivors of a lost world than servants of the Tholians with their home planet alive (One of the characters makes a comment about a shipment from Remus, so appearantly in that alternate universe, Hobus never happened.).

Predestination Paradox is the best thing in Star Trek - it makes anything instantly funnier. (well, in voy and DS9 anyway)

I myself would not mind seeing a Romulan relation to the Ambassador or Kamarag.
Cruisers do not suck at DPS and Escorts are not Tanks. If you think this, you need to reread the definition of Tank.

The original script for "Search for Spock" had that Bird of Prey as being a stolen Romulan ship And you can definately see it if you compare the Klingon Bird of Prey to the Romulan Mogai Escort...

Maybe something along those design lines? Sort of a mid-point between the 'winged flying saucer' of the classic Romulan Bird of Prey (T'liss Warbird, whatever) and the later Mogai and especially D'Deridex Warbirds?

It's academic, really, since I have to agree that they'll probably get stuck with their ally's ship, but it is an interesting discussion point...
