# 1 June Scimitar Stuff >:D
06-23-2013, 09:07 PM
Please Read about the Topic of Discussion regarding the Thalaron Weapon and it's observed effects. If you could leave Feedback I will appreciate.

Ok, made this thread for discussion of players who came accross a Scimitar (or a Variant of) in game. It is more or less for speculation and observation. Seeing as we can add things we know to allow us to better understand what is coming. Since lets face it, the month of June is almost over and as of the time of this post, no Scimitar info.

So I made this so we Tribble testers can try to figure out what a Scimitar brings to the table. Since I have had no encounters with a Scimitar piloted by a player I have a very limited amount to share.

Edit: I have now encountered a Scimitar in game. While it is clearly not an escort it Pew Pews with the best of them. It even seems to maintain some of that feel that you would expect from a Scimitar. And yes I did learn a great deal. I am however not sharing anything that could give too much away. Why? The things I have provided are observational Data. I wish to provide feedback in the same manner. So the Developers will know what I expect even though I did not get to test one. Also, if you want to see what one does in battle, go over to tribble and help them test. D:

Known facts:

Scimitar is going to be a Carrier, able to carry Romulan Drones or Scorpion Fighters
She will more than likely be Engineering or Tactical heavy (Need Observational Proof)
She will have the Thalaron Weapon (Would like some Numbers parsed)
Ovserved Hull of 52,001 ( No idea on Spec)
Turn rate comperable to a D'Deridex possibly faster (again no idea on spec of consoles)
Able to Fire Thalaron Weapon without lock on Enemy. (Observed see link below)
Thalaron weapon does immobilize, ~12 seconds from activation to Firiing (Observed see link below)

Speculation:
She supposidly has a cloak called "Scimitar Cloak" (Have not seen this, but I want to)
Probably a Turn Rate of 6 (Thanks Captainwestbrook)
Very Likely 2 Hanger bays (Thanks Captainwestbrook)

I am not sure if the Console Pictures were to be released yet. But I will tell you where to look for them on this thread. Page 6 post #53. If it is not supposed to be there, please get rid of it and the reference without deleting the Thread. We are providing Feedback on what we see as needing improvement.

Topic of Discussion. The Scimitar from what I observed seems to have a very weak Thalaron Weapon. With a 12 second warning and immobilizing the ship using it. I would like to see it hit an insane amount of damage. Something like 60-75k Raw damage with a DoT after. This is due to the fact that less restricted attacks such as Wing Cannon Overload are only requiring ~2 seconds to charge and fire while dealing 20-35k Raw damage reliably. Please leave your thoughts on this here.

If you have a Scimitar story to share please do, with combat logs if you get the chance.

Begin Sharing!

I suppose I should log onto tribble (I got no pm, mail, or email saying I was chosen to test this, unless somehow I missed it), and see if I can help out.

Seeing the description on the tribble Drone pet, this caught my eye: "Scimitar Dreadnought Warbird" - so what this says to me atleast is that it definitely is a dreadnought carrier.

Most dreadnought carriers have a minimum of 2 hangar bays and 6 turn rate. I don't know about a Scimitar Cloak, but I suppose it'll definitely have a Romulan Battle Cloak I suppose.

Btw, not a tester.. but this is what I make out of it.

Not going to go off on a rant, but I still LOATHE the fact that it'll have a Thalaron weapon of some kind.

I mean, in Nemesis it was stated that "thalaron research was banned in the Federation" - RESEARCH, let along USE!

So far as I am concerned, the moment the RR start using it, I won't be using my RR character anymore, because that 'faction' will have become a terrorist organisation.

Using thalaron doesn't automatically mean that the RR are terrorists, that's like saying any state that develops nuclear weapons is a terrorist organization in my opinion.

Also the Federation activly dumps theta radiation ("is an energy form which can be extremely toxic to humanoid life." - Mem Alpha) around the place and uses temporal weaponary with... well let's skip the techno babble, there are weapons which the Federation shouldn't really be using but they use it anyway, all in the name of a game.

Well, they are (going to be) flying giant warships equipped with, generally considered illegal, biogenic weapons, based on a giant warship that was little more than a flying a weapon of mass biogenic destruction.

And whilst I don't recall whatever episode it was that states that the Federation dumps theta radiation, that's still not the same as flying around in a warship equipped with a biogenic weapon.

The Federation bans anything useful, they are giant idiots that way. Cloaking, phase-shift, thalaron, Omega molecule, they back off like cowards.
The only sensible Federation citizens are the Section 31 ones.

Why would the Romulans be banned from it, they are not Feds.

Its like the Feds trying to ban klingon cloaks during the dominion war....
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

Well, let's see:

Cloaking: they agreed that they wouldn't develop this to keep the peace
Thalaron: Biogenic weapon - basically illegal. People are capable of making these in this day and age - are you saying that they SHOULD develop such a hideous method of killing people en-mass for no reason other than that they CAN?
Omega Molecule: Very fragile; nasty habit of rupturing subspace

Lets not argue about that and we are talking about the Romulans, not the Federation.
Romulans ...
You start your career off as a simple farmer... then you launch yourself into a galaxy filled with intrigue, power plays, and high stakes games of interstellar conflict, as your career careens upwards onto your final destination ... a level capped Dilithium and Fleet Mark Farmer!
