# 1 Weapon Power level query
05-23-2013, 10:00 AM
I remember reading somewhere that there was some benefit in having your weapon power level above 125 (up to 135 I think it was) as there is some compensation for power drain from firing weapons.

Am I correct in thinking this?

Also, with the ability of some warp cores to enable a higher max power level, does this change things again? (I'm assuming there is one that affects max weapon power as this morning I pick up one which increased max engine power).

Cheers in advance.

You're assumption is correct. Any power in excess of 125 acts as a buffer against weapon drain. For example, firing 2 Beam Arrays will drain 10 Weapon Power during the firing cycles. If your weapon power is 125, if would drop to 115. If you push you weapon power to 125+10 (135), your weapon power "drops" to 125.

The maximum amount of extra weapon power is not 135. You can push it as high as you are able. An Engineering Captain with EPS Power Transfer III and Emergency Power to Weapons III would potentially get excess weapon power to >+70. If you add Nadion Inversion Captain ability into the mix, a Cruiser with 8 Beam Arrays or an Escort with 4 dual Heavy Cannons+3 Turrets could blast away for 30 seconds with a sustained Weapon Power of 125 (OUCH!!!!).

For the second question, yes there are Warp Cores which gives +5 Max power to one of Shield Subsystem, Engine Subsystem or Auxiliary Systems Subsystem. There is not a core that add +5 Max Power to Weapons.

Thanks for that.
