Hi,

I'm new to the game and on an early mission I received a schematic for body armor and I'm not sure what to to with it. How and where do you research this to create body armor for my bridge officers?

Thanks

That is for use on Memory Alpha (or Q'onos) in crafting.

When you aren't at Memory Alpha, click the down arrow on the minimap and select R&D Progress. The last tab is used to create schematics, the other tabs are used to create everything from personal armor to ship weapons. Aside from some consumables, you need a schematic, data samples (from scanning anomalies or the duty officer system), and usually unreplicatable materials (bought near the crafting areas on MA and Qo'nos for Dilithium).

If you haven't doon the 'Scientific Mandate' mission given out by Admiral Quinn, I would suggest doing so, as this is the introductory mission to 'Memory Alph' and STO crafting...

Do you still have to have the schematics in your inventory to use them?

ive got a free account and they take up a lot of room

No. You also do not need to have any data samples (the gathered crafting material from the anomalies) in your inventory. As long as you have them at least in your bank, you can still use/craft with them.
