The secondary firing mode of the repeater pistol/rifle is, to say the least, underwhelming?

I came upon three Tal Shiar soldiers guarding a shuttle in the Crateris system. I instructed my away team to ready their weapons. I jumped out and fired the secondary function.
The Centurion raised his hands to cover his head in anticipation of the incoming blast to his armor and personal shield generator. Imagine his surprise when my weapon only fired a small two or three round burst that was not wide enough to hit all three soldiers at once. No follow up shot, no arc spread of plasma energy, nothing? I had a better chance of defeating this foe with harsh language than my weapon.
I could tell from the look in the eye of this Centurion and his two escorts that now they were truly provoked and violence would ensue.

This brings up another good point, I can?t seem to locate a vendor with melee weapons at the Flotilla. Considering my predicament above, I would have settled for anything that could have been used to bludgeon this foe and his accomplices.

I am convinced that the repeater is a very good weapon design. I look forward to using them as I progress through my career and attain higher mark versions.

You need to hold down the secondary fire key for those particular weapons, not just tap it.

To use a CO term, it's a "maintain" attack.

Yeah, the maintain needs to be held, not clicked (if you didn't already know). It's actually quite a good weapon, my only miff is that I can't find any others save for the base un-modified versions sold at the flotilla.

It's upsetting because I'd like to use them (and I still do cause I'm a lower level) but I keep finding better weapons from drops and rewards...
