Cryptic's been promising this for some time now... in fact, they even posted a time frame to expect it in the game of March of last year.

Of course, they also promised PvP content shortly after the end of the first featured episode expansion... that has yet to happen, and it's been what... 3 years?

The hold up has something to do with the saucer sep not liking the third nacelle on the Gal-X, from what I have heard.

They also wont let you use the console from the Gal-R, just like you cant use it on the Odyssey.

Well its not even a problem, the Defiant-R and the Galaxy-X share the same console, Cloaking Device yet both ships come with it.

If Seperation is implemented the same is likely to happen, the Galaxy-X will come with the Galaxy-R console, the Odyssey have a specific console because the Odyssey separation is not as good.

I've been waiting for the fleet version of this ship to jump back in.

What I found lacking from the Galaxy-X is simple to fix for the fleet version:

Give it a 4th tac console slot

A ltcommander tac bridge officer

Slightly better shield mod and hull

Now here's the big one-----> Acurracy fix for the Lance! Give it the same accuracy as the guramba lance and it's all done.

If saucer separation is a console then I'll probably take it off. I was able to get the big girl to dance but she needs the above mentioned badly.

Maneuverability was never an issue for me (as I've proven on enough occasions). But, the saucer sep does provide a different flavor - a versatility to the ship that it didn't used to have (it becomes a heavy escort - far greater maneuverability with more offensive-oriented base power settings much like the Prometheus and/or Gal-R with a pet saucer with BO1, as well as a "shotgun lance" with a wide dispersal damaging AoE).

Turning that on/off changes the dynamics of the ship on the fly. For people who fly the Gal-X like me (the shark 1-shotting everything upon a decloak), what this means is I can perform my shark surgical kill with the full power of the precision lance upon a decloak, then separate for a more aggressive stance rather than being limited to support fire and healing/tanking - or if the situation demands it, I can stay 1 vessel and do that support tank/heal role.

That flavor change on the fly would be enough in my opinion.

The other mentioned changes - 4th Tac slot, increased hull/shield strength, etc etc - I wouldn't turn them down, I admit... but honestly, the aforementioned versatility would be enough to make me reinstall the game.

Ships that are supposed to have a saucer separation capability should inherently have it with the ship. It should not require a console. MVAE, Galaxy, Odyssey, etc. should come with the ability automatically.

Agreed.

Personally I think that they should just make all B/O slots and console slots universal and let the community play.

Also... a serious rebalance of ships, roles, skills, lol, and a serious look at providing an actual game rather than a cash farm or F2P system.
That is what it will take for me to consider playing again.

And get rid of this tier system crap.
As much as I wasn't a fan of the game, I liked the SFCIII way of outfitting a ship.
If it had room for something, you could equip it. If it didn't then it didn't.

Random thought:

Can't saucer separation be the "unique trick" built into many (aka all capable) fed ships like battle- and standard-cloak on Rommie and Klink ships...

Still at it. CBS "restrictions" fell by wayside with freebie Breen. Time to re-examine ENT and ToS at tier 5, repurpose the Connie into Sci and rebuild an Akira escort into the "NX". 6 "eras", spread evenly over all the classes...
