The Regent-class Assault Cruiser comes with the Metreon Gas Canisters, and until recently, it could only be attached to the prime universe Assault Cruisers. Well, with tomorrow's patch, even the Mirror Star Cruiser can equip this console.

From the Patch Notes:

Metreon Gas Canisters can now be equipped on the Mirror Star Cruiser.

It's a pretty weak console, I doubt they where hurting for it. Still nice to see an update but.

The Mirror Star Cruiser uses the same model as the standard Assault Cruiser. The Metreon release animation is tied to that model, so it really is only a bug that the console didn't work on the Mirror Star (See: Multi-Vector Assault Mode on the Mirror Patrol Escort).

This is literally a bug fix, and you've found a reason to complain about it. Congratulations.

Tied to the ships Model, lol.
Thats what i call funny game design.

If anything that console should be equipable with the Mirror Assault Cruiser (which looks like prime universe Star Cruiser), at least it would make sense.



Sorry i'm still laughing about the idea to make a ships ability connect with the actual ship model.
(just for clearification i am NOT laughing about futurepastnow. I am laughing about Cryptics devs who came up with the idea of designing the game like this.)

Different physical items function in different ways, and this is the game's way of simulating that. Just as the multi-vector assault ships have 3 sections that are able to separate when a console is used, the Noble, Majestic, Sovereign, and Regent classes have a port that allows the launch metreon gas canisters when their console is equipped.

Sheesh, it's like laughing because pickup trucks have a large topless aft cargo section and cars don't...

The Metreon Gas is the same effect as Eject Warp Plasma just a bit different colors, which has nothing to do with the ships geomery like the MVAM.

Sorry i'm still amused about how Cryptic designed their game.

Every ship has warp plasma because every ship needs warp plasma to achieve warp. Metreon gas is not standard in starships. Considering that, it's not unreasonable to consider that ships to need a special area for canisters of metreon gas to be launched.

The only reason it is locked to that ship is because only that ship used it in a movie. If Starfleet was going to start bottling metreon gas for use in that way they wouldnt lock it to one ship type because all ships have the ability to do it because it uses the same system as a plasma eject.

It is rather useless for anything but small annoying ships and mines and the console slot would be better filled with something else, one has to wonder about the guy that wrote the description.

Oh I'm not complaining. I'm actually glad I can replace my Theta Radiation console and put it on my other ship that has all the KDF consoles on it.
