Hello all,

It's been a while since I had to stop playing to deal with a family matter, but I'm back in the fold now and trying to get back into the swing of things, and for the newcomers that don't know me, I'm Sivar and I've played this game since it launched over three years ago.

Anyway, one of the more disappointing things that I've returned to is the fact that the PvP side of this game has now gone over two years without an update of any kind. Now reasons for this aside, I think that it's time that we all put together idea for new PvP modes/maps so that the devs can either use the ideas as inspiration for something or just use them outright, as far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter so long as we get something.

So list your ideas, they can be anything (ground or space) from alterations to the maps we have, or completely new modes of play based on whatever you can think of. I'll start us off:


New Stuff:
-Failed Expedition: (Space, Capture the Flag mechanic, neutral locations) "A Starfleet research mission to study anomalies in this system has gone awry and now all of the ships are disabled. Due to the spacial anomalies in the area, transporters do not function properly so the ships must be towed to safety in order to evacuate the crews, however the Klingons want to recover the ships to study how they were disabled and interrogate the crews for information." As Starfleet you fight to protect fellow members of starfleet, as a Klingon you fight to gain critical insights into Federation technology and weaknesses.

Players have to tow the disabled ship with a tractor beam (only one available at a time, match is first to 3 or allotted time limit) at normal impulse speeds and cannot initiate Evasive maneuvers, cloak, Emergency Power to Engines, or go to Full Impulse while their tractor beam is active, doing so will disengage the tractor beam used to tow the disabled ship.

Max of 10 per side.

-Planetary Assault: (Space, Territory Control Mechanic) "A major Starfleet planetary facility is under siege by forces loyal to the Empire. As part of the invasion the Klingons have deployed a 5 Orbital Cannons to bring down the base shields, as well a mobile base to coordinate the assault." Both sides fight to control the orbital cannons, hacking their targeting systems as Starfleet to attack the Klingon Base, or repairing/activating the cannons as a Klingon to destroy the Starfleet facility.

Cannons are "strategically" placed throughout the map. Max of 15 per side.

Changes to Current Stuff:
-Salvage Operation: Change the node control from the number of people in the area to an interaction that dictates control for one team or the other.
-Solar Wind: Remove that damn background (it makes my PC cry)


Anyway those are my first thoughts for new stuff, what do yall have?

Anything is better than ghost ship as far as I am concerned.


Plenty of maps out there they could turn into a pvp map


That said... for Fed vs Fed.... I want to see Fed vs Mirror Fed (Terran) themed pvp map

These are my pie in the sky dreams, not my pragmatic take a cool existing map and repurpose it suggestions.

Level scaling PvP

STO clearly has level scaling mechanics, but IDK if this is possible. Allow players to get in a lower tier ship and queue appropriately. Players will be scaled to the appropriate level and play against other scaled 50's as well as actual lower tier players. This would let long time players enjoy the slower pace of the lower tiers and allow new players to compete against more skilled players without the myriad of options and gear gap waiting to crush their hopes and dreams at 50.

The problem with my pipe dream is IDK how much coding would be involved to tag rep gear and such to be disabled. Probably wouldn't work, but still I dream.

Faction daily/weekly/monthly point totals

If we had more modes and some territory control the win/loss totals could be tracked and the winning faction could be provided with a faction wide buff. This could come in the form of physical access to a map with a vendor (extra dil refinement?) or a passive buff. The grand prize should definitely be resetting the losing faction's UI colors.

I can definitely see Starbase Incursion being used for deathmatch or maybe a new King of the Hill mechanic, not sure about the others though.

Though on second thought I suppose you could use the map of Bajor for a big-team pvp, with 20 per side.

allow creation of pvp maps in foundry!

Pipe dream: better matchmaking mechanics for all queues. pls

I'd love to see a more "Capture the Flag" type set up.. Where there are the two bases, and the objective is to invade one base, take an objective, and bring it to yours successfully.

Would obviously be great for Ground, but a space variant would be cool too. Especially if perhaps it was designed around shuttle combat. Could have two space stations and the shuttles are just small enough to sneak inside. Could even have special objectives to activate to help defend the base, like Photon Torpedo Launchers you can activate, etc.. etc..

I wouldn't mind more shuttle combat myself, though I wish that they'd make it more accessible. Right now you have to switch into a shuttle at a shipyard in order to do the shuttle combat stuff, which isn't very convenient if you have other things you're trying to do that require your main ship.

For more shuttle stuff, and to make the current shuttle stuff more convenient, I would like to see them make it so that you can select a 'secondary ship' that is basically a drop down option that decides what shuttle you've selected as your main one, and that you're automatically put into that ship when you queue and join some event/map/mission that is shuttle only.

It would be more convenient, and more correct lore-wise as instead of doing what you do now, which is leaving your main ship behind at a shipyard and flying dozens of light-years or more to the mission in a short ranged ship to what is suggested here, where the main ship flies up to within a certain safe distance from the objective then launches the shuttle that goes the rest of the way.

Only way to do that is to generate enough traffic in the forums...

Yeah I did see that, and while it's nice that they fixed some very old bugs in the capping system, it still doesn't count as a true update to the PvP side of the game.

Support a KDF equivalent to the Vesta Here
