The open beta works fine at home but university firewalls block games unless specific requests are made by a user. The university IT department require me to give them the following if I am going to play Star Trek online's beta :
a) Name of the game. ( Easy. I know this)
b) Official gaming website address. (Easy, I know this too)
c) The range of recommended ports (UDP and/or TCP) (hard, there doesn't seem to be much information out there on this. Some people say you don't need to open any and some say you should open 7000-5 and a few people said 7000-7500! Anyone know which?)
d) Destination name (DNS) or IP address (harder, I know it means the site that hosts the game but I have no idea how to get this information. Anyone know?)
Will any of this information change when the full game is released? I find it hard to believe that an online game doesn't require any ports opening....
