why is the game using almost 95-97% of my CPU. I have a Amd Athlon 64 X2 dual core 6000+ 3.11 GHZ
so what do you think is going on?

The game scales up to use all available resources. You can set a cap to prevent this if you want.

There's no fps cap in the game.

You can set it to whatver you want, 30,40...etc. 30's decent and good enough, I dropped to 20-30% CPU used. using 40 as a cap bumped it to over 50%, so just imagine when there's no cap :|

You can also use /perFrameSleep to lower CPU/GPU usage.

Why is that a big deal? You doing a lot of other things while you play STO? I'm glad it uses as much as it can.

Because a lot of players dont have top of the line computers, and this game can struggle a little if you dont have a good gpu and cpu. By using the methods coderanger has outlined, even a fairly low spec comp can play this game in good quality and at stable framerates, without taxing their components.
