Not to mention stressful recruiting when you know full well there are larger more successful fleets that can offer more for members.

I dread when someone asks what tier fleet we are knowing full well a Tier 2 fleet 1000 SBXP away from tier 3 isn't as attractive as a Tier 4 or 5 fleet.

Something Cryptic really needs to look at turning around for the longevity of the game, as so much is unattainable for like 50% of the game population due to being locked behind massive grind walls and only available to tier 4 and 5 fleets.

It is frustrating and short sighted, especially when it's obvious that people *want* to play in small fleets with a few of their friends. Hang out in ESD for 5 minutes and you'll see a request for help to form a small fleet.

I get the feeling that the whole megafleet thing is someone's baby who just refuses to let it go, or even realizes the harm it does.

As it is, my small fleet has dwindled down to basically just me, my friends having quit the game in frustration. It's not like I can in good conscience go out recruiting to help continue the holding projects when I know full well the grind only gets worse. I suppose I could ditch the fleet which I've already spent so much time and resources trying to get the holdings moving but seriously... why the frell should I have to? This isnt a game that has any reason for megafleets to exist *except* for these fleet holding projects. There are no real raids, no real giant operations where there's any reason to have a roster of more than 25 people. The entirety of the game can be played solo or in a small group - and is in fact tacitly encouraged - except for these fleet holding resource sinks.

The megafleet requirement is so out of place with the actual gameplay it's shocking, enough to make people realize that the game may not be for them.

You don't want those people.

Some people only ask what can their fleet do for them, not what they can do for their fleet.

Some people wouldn't buy 150 Mark I torpedoes if their life depended on it.

Some people don't DOFF.

Some people want to contribute, rather than just mooch off a stockpile of provisions with their stash of Marks.

Some people want to play a role they can't play in a larger fleet. You can only have so much timezone coverage of bankers...recruiters...crafters...holdings managers...

I'm in a "megafleet" that has an alt fleet purely to let players earn credits because projects fill so fast. It's awesome being in meetings and Fleet Actions that large. It's awesome to stroll around a starbase populated with fleetmates in uniform at every station.

I'm in a "community fleet" that doesn't recruit because our website members want to play together. We are delighted to have a dozen people who care to play regularly, and two who grind to feed the machine. We run contests and help those who just play for fun, because they'll stay and give back.

There is room for all kinds of fleets and players. Trust me, you don't want the people who don't want your fleet.

# 155 what about actual output?

i keep seeing time, cost, discount, fleet size....what about actual output?

i have yet to see one legitimately sourced number for how much dilithium one person can mine from the fleet mine in a day.

is it the same as the one we already have in vlugta? or is it higher?

There hasn't been a single mention of the capped limit daily for the fleet mine, and if anything, it should be at least 30% higher, than the normal asteroid.

I have to agree unfortunately, I think Cryptic are loosing far more players due to this than they do for any other reasons. I have heard this story so many times, I have picked up a player or two that have told me the exact same thing, their old fleet was dead no one was ever one. Members left the game, left and joined more active fleets etc and so no.

Obviously it's a major issue and something Cryptic should be looking at, before introducing another holding, rep grind etc.

The problem is, as a small KDF fleet, numbers on that side are very limited. The blunder that was LoR may have helped the KDF for a week or so, but it has once again gone back to what it was now. Most Romulans active in the KDF are alts of actual KDF players who not surprisingly join their mains fleet.

People generally join a fleet to either, make friends and have people to play with, or for gear. Small fleets struggle in both these areas due to most wanting to go to the larger fleets for option a, or go to the large fleets for option b. Either way large fleets win and small fleets are left out in the cold.

The dilithium mine is another fail, you need to bust the resources to get the discount, something small fleets will really struggle with and something large fleets will race through. This is not a real help to small fleets, but will really make larger fleets even more attractive. Now if the discount was only to fleets of 150-200 members or less (as an example) that may be different.

But something needs to be done, to give small fleets some advantages over larger fleets, to make them equally attractive as large fleets for different reasons. No matter what they do, some fleets will abuse it, kicking players or what not. This unfortunately is unavoidable and those fleets that do are obviously not worth being part of. I also think Cryptic needs to make it harder to create new fleets, or need 25 members (accounts) before new fleets can start developing a base. This would allow more people to join other fleets and help them and help themselves in the long term.

I have given up trying to enlighten people of the difficulties. On Qo'Nos the other day a guy was trying to get people to help him make a fleet. I told him how expensive it was, posted links and figures from the forums and he stated he didn't care that he had a fleet on the Fed side and it was doing well. The guy had no idea of the situation the KDF side is facing in terms of numbers. KDF fleets aren't the same as Fed fleets, where numbers can be a lot easily picked up. I know as I used to run a Fed fleet myself.

Sorry about the long winded response, it's just frustrating at times.

# 157 Where is the mine?

The Dev blog says the mine in in Beta Ursae near the usual dilithium asteroid field. But I can't find it. All I can find is the Ferengi mine. Yes, I'm part of a fleet. But I can't seem to find this mine to save my life.

It is there, it's to the left of the Ferengi one. I was at ours earlier (not that there is anything to see until tier 1), I think it's call "Federation Fleet Mine" or something similar.

ok sounds great plan but one question ...
will this discount on dilithium costs:
1. reduce for fleet starbase, embassy dilithium requirements for projects ... exp: if a normal project requires 2mil dilithium how much should we expect it to drop if its applied to this.
2. will it apply to any or all dilithium stores, or just fleet, embassy and mines stores that require dilithium as currency ...

I ask for clarification or further details for lessened confusion later ... and should this also make lvling starbases and things much faster for low membered fleets ...
