Give the Defiant a Battle Cloak!

Before we got those Romulan Battle Cloak ships, i could understand why it had only a standard cloak; so that the Klingons had something special (BoP battle cloak).

But since there are now plenty of Battle Cloak ships around, why not upgrade the Defiant cloak
(of course give the Qin Heavy Raptor a battle cloak too imo)

So what do you guys think?
I second this, Please upgrade the defiant class to have a Battle Cloak

I'd be in favor of buffing all BoP stats and giving the Defiant or some other new Fed ship an inherent battle cloak. Both the BoP and Defiant have been relegated to 2nd class ships with all the awesome Rommie ships out there.

Or maybe make a new ship with a new battle-cloak console and have that console equippable on Fed ships that already have cloaking available (i.e. Defiant and Dreadnought). Then Cryptic could not only sell the new ship for people that want to fly it, but they'd also sell it to people that would want a battle-cloak for the Defiant or Dreadnought.

Well lets not go overboard here, a D'Deridex is neet with a battle cloak, but not perticularly OP. The Defiant on the other hand is one mean little toy. There are some players who exclusively use the Defiant and make some really deadly creations. And as far as battle cloak goes, the only reason you want one is to leave the fight with some measurable amount of defence and success. So giving the Defiant a battle cloak is kinda like adopting a romulan/klingon battle strategy to her. Being designed for continued combat as opposed to hit and run tactics, I would think you might make something that pvp may develop a bad taste for.

That being said, if the Defiant gets a battle cloak, I want my B'rlol to get 20k more hull and some extra tac stuff... Just saying, that the B'rlol and all Bops in general sacrafice a lot for thier cloak. Even the rommie ships have less power and turn than you do. So if you get battle cloak, you either get Nerfed, or everything else must get buffed... kinda doomed if you do, doomed if you don't...

In this case I vote Don't. Turn rate of a Definat with battle cloak and possibly 5 tac consoles for the fleet version.... ouch!

Im seeing a whole lot of I Want I Want but no real reason to support why?

Why does the Defiant need a battle cloak? What purpose would it serve?

The Defiant would still be able to decloak alpha strike like NO other Escort with out it.
A battle cloak will only allow it to run away from combat ever so slightly better than it can now in combat.
Run away. Something many of you feds have cried as dishonorable and cowardly for KDF BoPs to do. Many times this insult has been thrown at the KDF bop players in pvp.

Are the feds so quick to become the dishonorable cowards they have called us so many times in the past for a percieved buff that does nothing to improve gameplay?

The Defiant does not need a battle cloak. Its fine the way it is and unlike a BoP the Defiant can survive in a dogfight.

I don't see why you think you'd have to run away like a cowardly Klingun just because you have battle-cloak. That's a tactic BoP's use due to their extremely low defense values (which I think should be buffed). As a Defiant, you could decloak alpha, then stay and fight until an opportunity arises to cloak for another decloak bonus strike. This would prevent the Defiant from having to completely run from the battle in order to get their cloak ability back up, which is what they have to do now. So contrary to your statement, battle cloak would help the Defiant stay in the fight much longer compared to how they currently have to pilot if they want a decloak strike after their initial one.

Hey guys, here's the most clearly reasoned argument why the defiant should have a battle cloak:

All romulan cloaks are battle cloaks.

The defiant cloak is a romulan cloak.

No, the Defiant is not a BOP, it is more like a Raptor. Most raptors tend to use standard 4DHC escort builds, the cloak helps a little with the first attack, but they don't build or play completley around it, most raptors tend to stick around after decloaking. Stop playing a escort like a BOP and try to run off to exit combat and cloak again, its not a BOP, stick around and fight like an escort.

You want to play like a bop and do decloaking alpha with BO+HY+tractor you can, but have to accept its not the ideal ship for the job.

Actually all cloaks should be "battle-cloaks". No Red Alert cloaking, warp or full impulse are mearly for game mechanics and make absolutely no sense while viewd from any other perspective.
There is no reason you can't cloak in the middle of a skirmish as the penalty is obviously hull damage.
Now, for balance sake the cooldown period of the cloak could be increased. You would still be able to cloak in the middle of battle as it should but it would not allow for a "decloak-hit-cloak-repeat" tactic.
