First of all Doffing is fun, before the RR this was the most interesting addition to STO, imv, and it touches upon every part of the game. However, there are few things i think that stand in need of improvement. The more doffs enter the game, the complexer it becomes. So here is my list of things i would like to see.

feel free to add your own or comment on these

1) Ultra-rare space and ground traits.
Each new doff pack has these, there are still xindi ultra-rares in game that can be gotten by the academy events. The problem with these: They are often poorly balanced, and shoe-horn a build in a particular direction, should you have the luck of getting a desirable one somehow. All of a sudden all other build become inferior, so why use them.

Can we please get white and green (maybe even blue) Doffs that have the same space / ground traits of their ultra-rare twins. THese should be directly purchasable. This way we can try different builds, and simply have more fun. For KDf players certain highly desirable (or OP) Doffs aren't even availabe on the exchange.

2) UI
2.1) Romulan UI Theme colors
iwth romulan UI theme you don't see the difference between the golden (first doff mission expansion) missions and the regular ones. Not a biggie but since golden ones warrant attention, and you can see them in the FED and KDF themes, please fix this for the green romulan ui theme.

2.2) Maximizing Crits
Its not so much the mechanic, where having 100% success results in lower crit chances when you send matching doffs on mission compared to completely unrelated doffs. But, the fact that i have to scroll through 100-400 doffs to see the ones with matching crit traits that makes this really annoying. Can we have a check box, that filters our doffs based on matching crit chance? So we can display recommenation (success chance), all (all), and then all those with matching critical traits based from either selection?

2.3) exchanging underperforming DOFFs
NOt being able to see the space/ground trait when sending a doff on a mission in exchange for another doff, or where it is killed is a giant PitA. Yes i m happy to sacrifice one of 50 purple conn doffs, just not one of the AP kind. Please integrate that into the UI when slotting doffs for mission like "exchange underperforming doffs" or "execute changeling spy"

2.3.1) Whats up with KDF allied RR and the rules for which greens can be upgraded/downgrade on the qonos academy vs. new romulus command. Would it be too much to ask that since RR is a new faction they can exchange both romulan and allied doffs at the same doff vendor.

2.4) SLotting restrictions on Bound Doffs
why i can't use doffs that i once used in upgrade mission is beyond me. I used two blue dmg controls, now i have purples, why can't i use these for upgrading 5 blue to purple. Its fine if you don't want them on the exchange. s.b. 4)

3) Documentation
kk i m joking here, what documentation? How about a masterlist of ground/space abilities on the library consoles on the bridge. Make another lore like minigame out of it if you must. But please let me see what is in game ....some where.

4) Bound Doffs.
Ok the whole bound to character mechanic is FUBAR in my view. Every character that has reached a certain recommendation tier should be able to trade those doffs with other characters of the same faction on the same account. T2 for white, T3 for green, T4 blue, T5 purple. INcluding special lockbox only ultra rare doffs.

I m talking account bound active space / ground roster doffs, and academy store doffs (so instead of moving the dil from one toon to the other to buy them, i could move the doffs straight away...if both characters have reached the repsective tier.

5) Fleet Doffs
s.a. 3) i still don't know the pool of space traits these doffs have, do they change ... where can i find whats in store if i play the gamble.

6) Its too hard to get specific doffs.
THe exchange update helped a lot, but still in the long run more reliable mechanics of getting a doffs with regards to career, race, abilities, and traits would be highly welcome. Maybe somewhere with the crafting revamp. less random more plannable!

7) Storage
Another long term thing. Along with pets, we need better doff storage. Inventory and mail are band -aid fixes.

8) A pipe dream:
Cross System integration: Since the Sb holdings correspond to doff themes, and we still have accolades in game. How about some synergies between the two? Exploration accolades could give each character a small xp boost for exploration recommendation. Or finishing a cluster chain, makes it easier to achive the exploration accolade for that cluster. T5 development XP could grant a FM bonus to characters when filling dil min development projects. NOthing big, it just looks like there is an underlying meta game, but for now its all just labels, nothing actually pulling these things together.

THIS. Is most needed. Urgently. I wonder why it wasn't done at start nor fixed yet.

The company doesn't bother giving us proper documentation.

The only -relatively- reliable source is community-driven, and thus, even if their gratuitous commitment is amazing (and commendable) is simply not sufficient.

Also, it is outside the game client, and forces you to surf the web.


The company should revise, correct and integrate from that basis to include an ingame compact version accessible via UI and, for RP, terminals such as the LCARS on ship.

Well, the latter is optional, but once the work, which is in turn necessary, is done, it will cost nothing more to add it.

I'd like to see it too. It would give real meaning to the name of the categories.

In fact they seem to have minimized their initial promise and diverted the attention on other.

I hope to see it one day (before I grew too old, if possible) and sure we're not only or few...
About the rest, please bring back doff system alive as it was prior to dilithium extortion on academy services.

If doffs like Industrialist Krinda (uber console doff) and the Rigelian crit doff for the support colonization are bound to put a lid on crits. I do agee the Exchange needs more refinment on the doff front. You go under Energy Weapons Officer and there are at least 3 diff kinds of bonuses from the doffs. The warfare specialists are a mess to sort through.

Thanks for the support alexs. I m not quite sure what you mean by putting a lid on crits lucho. What does is matter which toon is using them for crit chances>

point in case from top of my head four distinct energy weapons officers.

"SubNuc" Doff


^^ we needs better documentation cryptic, how much work can it really be??

I'm new to this, and you seem like you have much more experience, so I could be very wrong, or misinterpreting what you're asking for, but I use a feature already incorporated into the doff system to achieve (I think) what you're going for, and it is a check box.

There are 5 filter tabs at the top, one of the is Traits, I believe, in that filter you can check to only show doff with certain traits, and to exclude doffs from showing that have other traits.

So I start an assignment, get the standard three 'recommended' ones, click 'display all' instead, then go to my Traits filter and check the appropriate boxes given the crit traits listed in the assignment.

The way you describe it, is exactly the best way to do it currently. it is also a lot of clicks for 23 assignments, plus scrolling and slotting the ones you want to send on the assignment.

Still it is possible. Now imagine a check box, that filters you doffs based on crit traits of the assignment with one click. Either from recommended doffs, or from all depending on your previous selection. Seems a nifty UI improvement to me, i m just tired of doing this time and time again for the same mission that i have been doing it since reaching top tier cxp some time before F2P.

Here's something I'd like:

Pending Transfers

I think it's a common problem, where people have their roster filled with blues and purples, and no room for the common and uncommon doffs they get from recruitment assignments and need for fleet projects. I clear some, sometimes, mostly doubles, but after a while it's all filled in again, so:

Add in a 10 duty officer 'hopper' to ship crews. This is the Pending Transfers or Assignment Pending pool. When room on the regular roster runs out, send new Doffs there. While they're there, they can't be assigned to Doff assignments, but they can be deposited directly into fleet projects, or discarded. No doffs can be manually moved into that pool, only moved from the pool to the roster, and, all Doffs in the PT/AP pool come with a 24 hour clock. If you don't make room for them, or pass them along to your fleet, within that time, the next time you log on Starfleet reassigns them somewhere else. If a crew consuming assignment made some room before then, it moves what it can onto your roster the next time you log on.

Why would Cryptic do this? It might sell a few more Duty Officer packs, if we don't have to eliminate 7 rare or very rare Doffs, to make room for seven new ones of inferior quality. Especially these days, as the dilithium of dismissing purples don't really soften the blow anymore. Whether in the long term that'll cost them in dropped sales on Doff slots... that's a coinflip. Can go either way. Not for me though. I'm already at 400.

Why not a DOFF Fleet Rooster?

We have a big fleet base. Why can't unneeded DOFF's get stored there? Something like the fleet bank just for doff's. Every update in one suptrait (sci, eng, tac) increase the rooster.

for example: Base 100 in each.
Each tier of Sci, Tac, Eng adds 50 to this rooster. You will end with 350 in each category.

Each tier to Mine/Embasy will add again 50 to each.

This way the Fleet can donate their unneded doffs for other members in need or for construction projects of the fleet.

In the academy event where you collect particles? Or which event do you mean? I saw xindi doffs on the exchange for huge prices and wondered how to get them. Can you tell more about this?
