Which is funny, because if scaled accurately, most starbases would in fact be significantly smaller.

I think you mean "bigger". Look at Star Trek: Bridge Commander. For the most part, it is scaled very well. The Starbase 12 is gigantic, but still fits the Galaxy-class in between the hangar doors, just like in the show.

The one that irks me is the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought. Even if we go with the smaller, reasonable version, the J'H Dreadnought should still be twice the length of a Galaxy-class starship. Yet, in this game, it is quite obviously VERY small.

IMO: Season 9 was the best season, Devs were right to focus on bugfixing. Roll back Delta Rising to that.

All of this has happened before.

All of it will happen again.

No I think he means smaller because ESD does not make up the enitrety of all the starbases in this game.

Also, either ESD magically jumped size between Star Trek 3 and now, or it's technically too big.
And when you think of installations like K7..well it was about 450 meter in diameter, meaning it's currently dwarfed by the STO incarnation.
Not sure about stations like SB39, even though the hughe windows indicate it's somewhat gigantic for its actual scale too.

Yeah, it's more that Star Trek ships are huge. You're basically flying around ships that would easily dwarf modern Nimitz-class carriers (which are "only" about 333 meters long, compared to the big cruisers fielded by the Federation, Romulans and Klingons at over a kilometer long each). Earth's main stardock is bigger than Manhattan Island.

It's actually mentioned in TNG that you can fit a Galaxy inside the hollow space in a Warbird's superstructure. They're titanic ships.

I do think there is some merit to the concern that these ships are so huge that it actually messes with the range calculations. Like on a warbird, are you calculating range as being from the ship's nose or from it's center? That's a difference of nearly half a kilometer.

Unfortunately I don't see a viable way to address that without really screwing with the game design. You can't just double everyone's gun range and call it a day, as that messes up stuff like torpedoes, really impacts how escorts work (an extra ten klicks to strafe someone with my cannons? Hell yeah), so on. Heck, imagine how the Hive Onslaught STF would play with the lance cannons having a 40km range. To do it, they'd have to rejig a lot of the game, and that's just not going to happen.

Think I would prefer it if they simply made some of the zones around popular stations a lot hlarger so it doesnt look like a parking lot at your supermarket on a saturday morning..

Actually, that part is realistic. You should see how busy a major airport's control tower is just trying to keep dozens of planes from bumping into each other. A major hub like Earth would be a zoo of people warping in and out of system.

Though yes, would be nice to have, say, two or three more warp-in "nodes" or however it works, so everyone doesn't just pile up at the same spot. Just spread our piles out a bit more. Don't think it'll happen, for practical reasons.

Is that a hint at an upcoming iteration on asset scaling?

It is a peculiar phenomenon that we can imagine events that defy the laws of the universe.
