In the latest issue of Star Trek: The Official Magazine, STO is spotlighted! Head to your local magazine retailer, or purchase the electronic version, to check out the spread which features an original piece of Trek fiction and a behind-the-scenes look at creating the Summer Event.

To be honest, i am surprised STO gets any attention at all, since STO is so far away from Star Trek (canon or feel). It shouldn't be considered as being a part of Trek at all.

Seriously, i hope all that childish stuff you (cryptic) have introduced (like Carriers, Escorts as the dominating ships, Cruisers only serving as healers for Escorts, Miniguns, Mohawk on Starfleet personel and other silly things), will never have a chance to be integrated into canon trek.

The concept art is what you see on some of the NPCs. We hope to be able to offer more costume options, including the possibility of swimwear, for players during next year's event.

Cheers,

This is why I haven't played STO in so long. Well said!

Another Enterprise F story that actual STO players don't get to see. I guess those stories are like the swimsuits - maybe next year?

I just don't get it. Some people don't want to or can't buy the magazine for the sake of these stories. Why not release them on their own, either on the website or an ebook somewhere? I bet people would pay money for that.

I'm sure a payment option can be added to Arc just for us

Branflakes, may I ask and get a reply to what it was that prevented them, exactly, from being in this year's event? Where is the logic in that?

Because clearly the artwork for the garments already existed.

Also, how come Male Orions & Gorn who can run around in battle without a shirt on, can't wear the capri pants without a shirt on? Where is the logic in that?

And with the HUGE difference in head shapes the Alien "species" can have, they can wear the flowers on their heads but Caitians who can only change their head shape a tiny bit in comparison can not wear the flowers on their heads? Where is the logic in that?

Strictly your opinion.

In mine, it's the only prime universe "canon" we've got, since the novels went off the deep-end. In my opinion.

"Childish" being unjustified, as Star Trek on screen has had plenty of things analogous to what you disagree with, such as the use of small fighter craft (with intentions at least for ships such as the Akira to serve as their carriers with built-in hangers *still* on the models used in the shows/film, not to mention the blatant example of the Scimitar), escorts that do indeed seem to dominate enemy targets (the Defiant, no? How about the Prometheus?), Worf wielding a portable "rocket launcher" in Insurrection (which we don't have at this time), Starfleet officers who express their unique backgrounds and cultures by wearing a wide variety of decorations and hair styles (you should pay closer attention to characters or extras in the background of the various shows and movies), and other "silly" things I'm sure any Star Trek fan could pick out for you that's happened on screen.

IDIC. It means Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. It basically suggests one should expand their narrow view to encompass all possibilities with an open mind.
