Don't feel bad, I've died to my own mines due to scramble sensors, they need a tune up, but this is nothing compared to lolground pvp.

I think the OP needs to be nerfed.

Seriously, the Nukara web mines are hit or miss. But on average, their effectiveness is really inconsistent. They are somewhat useful against cruisers, not so much against escorts or fast moving ships. To blame all the ill of STO on these is beyond ridiculous.

Very few people use these mines in pvp. There are far more people who use DHC and Cluster Torp than the use of web mines. Even if it's used, it's hardly easy to hit anyone. So their success rate is really low.

There are too many damn gearsets, reputation perks and weapons, and other variables in this game. I can't keep up with what I'm getting shot with. . .

Me: *pops Tactical Team 1 with EPtS1, and keep TT cycling*

Random Federation escort or Romulan ship: *lolno, lemme blast the crap outta your Fleet Norgh like your defenses don't even exist*

And the lag. . .gah. Half the Romulan singularity powers are at least a little lag-inducing due to the EPIC ARRAY OF COLORFUL GRAPHICS. Then there's all the stuff people run seemingly with the intent of causing lag (Theta Radiation Vents, for example). Grrr.

Very true, that's why anyone needs to have a get out of jail card handy.

Yep, that's what I do. I'll even add there are people who just immediately activate their RSP without bothering watching what I hit them with. which baffles me to say the least. The distribution shield of TT really is not that great, it's better to have that function wired to a keybind for easy access. I have often seen down or weaken shields not being "redistributed" by TT.

Hmm, so it's not just me? I was wondering about these things yesterday.

Got whacked by them a couple of times, didn't exactly give me an opportunity to counter them. Couldn't outheal them, couldn't break free, couldn't stop them once they got started.

I don't often complain about stuff being OP, but this does seem a bit excessive.

Indeed, pretty much anyone sane who has tested these things, has found out that they are in fact quite OP.

My Romulan has less problems dealing with these mines than my Klingon. Minespam is actually the only situation I can think of in which the Singularity plasma shockwave is very useful. It doesn't even need to be fully charged to clear all mines in a large area.

My Klingon however is often pretty much screwed if no one else spams AoEs (shockwaves, gravity wells, warp plasma, etc.) over the entire battlefield.

This is a free-to-play MMO; their bottom line is directly impacted by how fast new content gets produced, as such meticulous QA & balancing is simply not profitable for them. The web mines are just the latest instance of balance issues getting shoved under the rug in favour of meeting deadlines; it costs time (and therefore lost revenue) to iterate things on Tribble and tweak based upon feedback, ergo it doesn't happen by and large.

These mines are not that bad. A TBR can break them easy. And you only get hit with them if you are not paying attention and run into them. They are slow and can be out ran pretty easy. Whenever something new comes out there is a learning curve for players to learn how to counter it. In the mean time people will cry and complain and call for a nerf, as usual.

bringing cruisers to PvP is a big mistake. This is now escort game.
Just go with the flow and get an escort
