I finaly got my second romy up to 50 last night, a science officer, and ran my scimitar, seemed to work fine, shields were regening slowely but I only have naff kit on her at the moment, I also had a go with my main tac rom and her scimitar and again she was ok, her crew were dropping still but i suspect now that this is due to the way crew death opperates, as it is a % of your total crew that gets injured, my crew dont die but they do seem to fall over alot.

The LoR update changed the way shield regeneration works.

Updated all space shields so you can continue to gain some shield regeneration even if player shield power drops below 25.

I usually have between 70 and 100 in shields at any given moment, borg 2 set and adapted honor guard shield, and STILL at any given second all that shield resistance is useless, because I still take random damage spikes directly to my hull, even with shields at full strength and shield power at 100+

... but that is all in the past, I am flying "Tougher than Scim" my Risian Corvette, it tanks 10 times better than a Scim.

Do not buy a Scimitar, you are wasting your money.

Thats just one person's opinion.

My scimitar is the best ship I've ever flown. I love it. I pull off insane DPS. In fact I parse every STF I do (usually around 16-20k) and noone has ever beat me (I play with fleet and EliteSTF channel)

It is not a tough ship (maybe as tough as a fed escort but with less defence rating), but I rarely die flying it.

This thread still has not a shred of proof of any sort of undue damage taken by the scimitar. The devs haven't been able to reproduce it, and neither have I. I think it just doesn't fit some peoples play styles, and thats great. Its also why I'll never fly a corvette.

.
A ship with 40k base hull and 1.1 shield mod should be tougher than a fed escort. That aside there is something else going on with the ship. A handful of times I have looked and seen my hull at 25% while having 100% shields. I never got a warning that my hull had taken damage or dropped below 75%.

It has much less defence than an escort due to lack of speed and huge inertia. This matters a lot more than people seem to think. Shots missing you is great for staying alive. Add in the fact that its inertia makes people more likely to fly very slow/stop (to avoid having to make sharp turns) drops the defense of this baby even lower.

The ship also has (on standard full-power to weapons setting) twenty less shield power than most federation ships which means significantly lower damage reduction and regen rate.
(Pre-emptive arguement against you "the power isn't an issue cause I have plasmonic leach" people: both ships should have the leach, which means this one still has 20 less)

People often run this ship with few (if any) resist consoles. They are too busy shoving on RCS accelerators and the Universal consoles from the ship. (And other wonderful universal consoles). I'll be honest, I have no resists on mine, but then again I don't go on forums and complain when I explode.

The ship is MASSIVE, and the hitbox is even bigger. It gets caught in warp core explosions that you don't expect to if you're used to flying smaller ships (which is all of them) and not so zoomed out.

Are you using something that heals your shields? Valdore console perhaps? Personally my Valdore console will keep my shields at 100% until I pop. That is not something wrong with the hull, that is something awesome with the Valdore console.

Agreed, my non fleet T'Varo is better than the Scimitar. I am now onto the Fleet version of it, which rocks

A lot of the problems, I think, stems from people trying to fly the Scimitar as an escort, when it clearly isn't.
It was my own mistake to buy it though. With my rose tinted glasses on I was excited to finally fly the Scimitar, and expected a Romulan type HEC clone.

I never took speed and inertia into consideration, thanks for that.

I do have the valdore console, but I wasn't taking hits when my hull dropped. I also never got the computer warnings for dropping below certain hull levels, it was straight to 25% without a sound. Maybe it's the ship or maybe it's some kind of Invisalign attacks like the Borg torpedoes. I dunno something seems really off since I started using the scimitar.

Scimitars are more than capable of hitting the speed-derived defense cap. Inertia only makes turning a bit more problematic, but with enough skill (and a hand from the 2-piece bonus and appropriately deployed cloaking bursts) you can actually use the inertia to keep the ships nose on target considerably longer than you could in an escort.

The CAN, but few people fight with a scimitar going that fast because you'll powerslide past your target even if you turn to keep facing the right way. Many people park (or close to it)
