If I fail one more Cure Space Elite because somebody doesn't know what they're doing, I'm gonna lose it. Seriously. People, it isn't that hard, so listen up before I decide to side with the Borg and crack a shiny new hull with my Phaser cannons:

STEP ONE: DESTROY PROBES ON ALL 3 SHIPYARDS

STEP TWO: DESTROY CUBES

STEP THREE: DESTROY CARRIER

THE END


Notice that no where in that guide does it say " DESTROY SHIPYARDS ONE AT A TIME " or " LEAVE 1 GUY TO HANDLE 8 NEGH'VAR WARSHIPS BY HIMSELF "

2-3 PEOPLE ON PROTECTING THE KANG

EVERYONE ELSE FOLLOW THOSE STEPS

When I play I get the group I am on to focus on one cube, take it out, then move onto the next while I protect the Kang and kill a cube on my own. It is not hard if you do it right.

...except that in many situations and tactics, one guy can protect the Kang all by himself. There's
* All probes, then all cubes, with timing drops;
* M probes, R probes, R cube, M, cube, L probes, L cube;
* divide-and-conquer that sends one person to clear each set of probes and cube and a floater to damage-balance;
* brute force RRMMLL works with enough firepower.

In all cases, it helps significantly if the people doing probes weaken the spawns as they fly by, but still. The tl;dr: CSE has four or more different tactics that work.

Disclaimer: CSE is also the one I least adore, mostly because there's such a lack of communication in PUGs. ISE, there's only really one way to do. KSE, only a couple, depending on firepower. Cure, though...

Maybe the problem is people are too hung up on the so many ways of doing it. I feel like the way I described is the safest though, in that its a balance between enough protection for the Kang and enough firepower to speed through the shipyards without making it harder for the defending group.

Infected I rarely have problems like this with, Khitomer even less

this one fails almost every time I play it.

Don't take this the wrong way mate, but I've done 400-500 Elite STFs, and more than 1 player on the Kang is either a waste of resources or a sign of a bad group. It's a 1 man job and always has been. Pop an Escort with lots of AoE attacks on it, and make sure the other 4 pick up the spawns at the shipyard they're attacking and you'll be fine.

Probe / Cube order is much of a muchness these days with the excess DPS most groups can produce. For the record, I usually just straight RML zerg it.

I think your issue is that you're PuGging and can't co-ordinate to a single tactic.

Practicing on normal doesn't help because its almost impossible to fail the optional on Normal. I pug CSN whenever I can't get a fleet group together for an eSTF run and I've never seen the optional fail, even if nobody's guarding the Kang.

safest? yes. its way before the power creep.

MRRML is the new fool proof thing.

and more are even trying RML (yeah, another season's worth of power creep)

so your method, is pretty much the worst possible way to approach it, because it is old, it is not the common one, and it is slow

if you rly need to rely on that ancient tactic, I firmly believe, that the problem is with you, and not the group

Wow, overreact much? Here's a better solution: PublicEliteSTF channel. I've done probably 400+ ESTF's with groups from that channel and I've never had any issues with optionals, even on the ground missions.
