# 1 Starship "Remastering"
07-05-2013, 12:42 PM
Remember back when the devs "remastered" several older episodes to bring them more in-line with its newer content? I though it might be kinda' cool if they did something similar with several older C-store starship classes.
There are a pretty decent number of C-store ships that no one uses anymore because they've been made more-or-less obsolete by newer releases or gameplay changes.
After all, when was the last time you saw someone show up to an STF or PvP match in a Vulcan D'Kyr, an Intrepid-class, or a Galaxy-class? One occasionally sees Galaxy Dreadnoughts, but (at least in my experience) very rarely by people who fly it because it's good.
I know the KDF has some pretty lack-luster choices for C-store ships as well-- certainly the Varanus could use a little love, if nothing else, and I don't know if the few Bortasq'-class ships I see pop up occasionally are there for the same reason that people fly Gal-Xs ("who cares if it works-- it's cool, dangit!").

Maybe I'm missing the point here, but I think this is certainly an idea worth bringing up. I know people are asking for new ships all the time (even me, once in a while), but bringing older, obsolete ships back up to par is probably a much less labor-intensive undertaking, and thus might be just as worth the devs' time, and might make just as many people happy.

So, wha'd'ya' all think?

this is part of the wider issue of ship stats & balance in this game.

and simply, it cant happen until any and all semblance of the rpg trinity gets dropped. since none of the content is rpg party conducive.
If you like the RPG trinity, then you hate MMOs, you hate working, competitive fair PvP, you hate balanced engaging solo content,
and,
you hate PvE "adventure zones". because the trinity is incompatible with any of these.

Unfortunately, this is simply bludgeoning the deceased equine. Many have brought up this topic, but nothing's happened to change them.

Not much can be done about this at this point. Cryptic had gone nuts with bringing older ships in as Tier5, while ones not much older as Tier1 and 2 and newer vintage ships as Tier4.

Players will not want their "investments" (the C-Store ships) to be nerfed. Cryptic would not want to go there and create a backlash.

The usefulness of a ship depends on it's use and the content/missions. There's role-playing potential. Foundry missions could be created that would be equally challenging with good stories and not require Tier5 ships. I have also heard that some people PvP in low-tier ships as well.
Are you sure it isn't time for a "colourful metaphor"? --Spock in 'The Voyage Home'

cryptic already think about this, that is as dstal said, something that they are talking about, even gecko have talk about it lately.
it is also something that we " galaxy fanboy" as some would said are requesting to cryptic for quite some time ( just take a look at the thread call "what is your beef with the galaxy cryptic")because the galaxy class have been a neglected ship since day one.
it was never up to part even with non cstore tier5 ship of it time!
so we are use to that, but some ship that were fine before now beguining to get old as we compared them to the latest top shiny one.
therefor these ship will not sold as they could be anymore.
cryptic will have to take that in consideration and give them a real utilities other than making some fan happy to fly the ship they love, because over the time they will loose these fan and then no one will buy these ship anymore.
not after a brief look at the stats.

The people who complain about their 'OP ship investment' being nerfed can blow me. I paid 2000 zen for a Guramba (the equivalent of 20 dollars, for pete's sake), and now it's being left behind by lockbox, lobi, and Fleet ships. At the very least we need a discountable Fleet Guramba. The same goes for many C-store ships. At the very least, make Fleet versions. . .or upgrade the ship itself.

I'd be willing to pay the equivalent of 5 dollars (fleet ship module) for a Fleet Guramba, and I'm sure Kar'fi users would be willing to pay 1-2 modules for a Fleet Kar'fi. KDF desperately needs more destroyer/raptor options, though, so a Fleet Guramba with 16-17 turnrate and a less onerous debuff to movement associated with the Siege Mode, along with another console spot and maybe even 5 tac consoles would be a great buy.

I'm with Timezarg, a Fleet Galaxy Dreadnought, D'Kyr , Kar'Fi and Garumba would be good additions for the people who own these ships.

Basically a Fleet version of any 9 Console T5 ship. For example I consider the Multi-mission and the Andorian Escort 3 packs to be Fleet equivalent.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001.
If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why.
When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.
