maybe we could mod the code to allow for the commander slot to change with the pod, or add an extra LC that does the same.
an extra LC...I'm not quite sure what you mean by that.
To you mean an LC in addition to all the stuff the ship already has, or do you mean a BO config like the D'deridex retrofit has?

prob more like the d'd, though the type would be decided by the pod, or not be there without. have the seat hard coded to the pod.

then again having an extra seat just to the pod would not harm it ether, have normal seating and an extra Ensign or lieutenant

Harm it? No, but it would hurt the others a lot...and TBH overpowered BO layouts are a bad idea.

you didn't think i was serous about adding another seat, were ya?

a lay out more like the D'd but one of the seats is determined by the pod you use. science pod science officer, ect.

So just one of the LtCs gets affected by the pods...that would be doable.
However then the entire hullpoint/shield mod/maneuverability thing will be obsolete.
Because then the Commander slot and the maneuverability will determine the hullpoints while the Commander determines the shield mod and the number of weapon slots.
This is not a complaint, it's just a fact.

Just a random thought:
there are over 600 reads n thsi thread and over 1,000 in its Fed counterpart...maybe it would be nice if people told us how much influence the pod should have in their opinion.
Because I'm not gonna spend time writing up stats again and again for every possible permutation from 1 to 8 consoles and from only changing the ensign to changing the commander etc.

Thanks for all your help fellows...does this mean there's no actual interest in this concept?

I'm still interested in the idea of Modular Sci Ships for each faction.

I think Cryptic could do a very interesting 3 pack. You buy the 3 pack but it's 1 ship per faction, and the Klingons get the Tac Module, Romulans get Science and the Federation gets Engineering. Buying the 3 pack allows you to unpack the Modules of the other 2 non-faction ships.

Klingons need a Cloaking Sci ship, Romulans want another Cloaking Sci ship. And the Feds are always hungry for a new Ship. Especially one with a completely new feature.

But sorry I don't really have more ideas on the subject. Despite the fact I still support it.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001.
If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why.
When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

Finally....someone gives a bit of feedback. Thanks.
So your input seems to be that the module should not affect the commander slot...an I reading that right?

good idea, an initial ship that comes in a three pack, one for each faction. but i still think that additional pods could be sold separately. it would mean more choice the just three and more to sell for cryptic. though i think the original three would be locked to the given ship, so you could only unlock it if you buy that ship.

misterde3 sorry i haven't replied anything to the thread, been hoping to see if any roms would reply on theirs + i'm running a failing fleet by myself. pretty much taking all my time.
