# 1 Fleet T'Varo, non-torp boat
07-15-2013, 10:51 AM
I love the look of this ship, but my fleet mates are suggesting making an outright fully cloaked torp/mine boat.

While the ship certainly has the enhanced battle cloak, so it can do that, but I just don't find the idea of this single purpose ship enjoyable. I am more of the mind to treat it all an escort that can cloak at will. DHCs, Torps, and Turrets.

So I ask am I missing the point of this ship, which seems to be fairly versatile.
Gingerbread Men non-combat pets? Is this Star Trek or Shrek in Space? STO Boldly jumping sharks where no one has gone before... Gingerbread Men Pets, that makes even Star Trek V look good.

I have a fleet T'varo and am basically flying it like a raptor. I'm even using the two piece set for the torpedo cooldowns. It's a good ship and it doesn't feel like I am using it incorrectly. I have good firepower, speed and maneuverability, and I like that I can fire my plasma torpedoes every six seconds instead of eight. It's the best escort/raptor type ship that I've ever flown, or at least it feels that way.

This is all with pretty stock equipment, by the way, as my Romulan character is so new. The weapons are all mark xi uncommons, and the ship stuff is basic uncommon/rare and no sets, other than the T'varo one.

The only time I found it useful to "correctly" utilise the Enhanced battle cloak is during vault ensnared, a well placed torpedo and Dispersal patterned plasma mines lets you kill a vault weaver in one pass without getting tied up in any combat. (Not that it's hard to anyway).

The rest of the time, I just used it like as a normal battle-cloaky escort.

I used the b'rel retro in a typical BOP role instead of the torp boat just fine on a tac. If the B'rel retro with 3 tac consoles can do it then the T'varo with 4 tac consoles is just fine. I dunno, if the the t'varo conoles are worth it or not though as a non torp boat setup.

I bought it to use as a torp boat. Did a transphasic build with Breen set. It wasn't bad but I mainly ESTF and was uncloaked with minimal shields much of the time and cloaked and unshielded the rest - not ideal! I have rebuilt it conventionally with 3 disruptor DHC, a photon torp, KCB and 2 turrets. I'm not buying rep gear till I can get the best so am stuck with a non-set. I have set it up science based and rely on 3 PWOs to get a decent torp fire rate.

It's not great dps yet, (60% of my Armitage) but, overall, I'm enjoying it more as an escort for now.

T'varo fleet is the ultimate troll boat. So many abilities including destabilized torpedo from set. It was made to be a torpedo boat. Add aceton and mines plus breen set and you will smile at the free kills. Highly recommend going with science in universal slot.

The T`varo is indeed very powerfull an a fun ship to fly. But it is not needed to outfit it like a torpedoboat. It can do it extremly well but the T`varo is very effective in the more classical escort role.
Its such a flexible ship. I run my Lt. Cmdr. as an Engeneer for added survivability and it works better than expected. Im going to try out a
Sci Lt.Cmdr on that ship , should be fun decloacing and throwing grav, wells all over.

However you want to outfit your T`varo/Fleet T`varo , it will perform well. It can do it all. One of the best ships ingame.

You don't have to fly it as a torp boat or BoP style of course, but as a standard escort I think the Fleet Dhelan is better suited.

Yes the Fleet Dhelan is a powerfull escort. But imho apart from 5 tac consoles it falls short behind the Tvaro in agility (maneuvering, inertia and often forgotten size) + speed. When im in my dhelan i get damaged and die much faster than in my tvaro although both have very similar loadouts.
And considering the tac consoles only boost base damage i find the 5th tac console more or less in the way of other consoles wich lower defences wich in turn boosts all my weapons, like graviton pulse or other consoles that increasy my crit chance for all weapons like assimilated module, zero point energy conduit etc.

Dhelan is great but imho the Tvaro is , albeit only a little bit , better. Especialy considered that you can do the torpboat thing more effectivly if you choose to outfit it like that. And that freak torpedo of the tvaro can be very very nasty if fired fully buffed and while cloaked (it seems to loose alot , especialy speed, when fired uncloaked).
Cruisers ftw!
