07-17-2013, 12:12 AM
Anyone try it and use it? I've been debating about buying one if its any good but I don't know anyone who owns it.

It looks like a charged particle burst in a console to me.

I very much like using charged particle burst in Sci ships and Carriers. The cooldown could be an issue here.

There's no info about it on the wiki yet either.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001.
If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why.
When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

I have it and use it, but I haven't really tested it against players only against NPCs as I've been busy collecting lolnuts on Risa lately.
I haven't done any excessive testing of the thing, but it seems to help me get through shields and get the shields down quickly. However, despite popular belief (from what I've experienced with people's questions) it's not a passive console, so you have to activate the shield destabilizer. It has a cooldown of 3 mins and it remains active for 30 secs.(might be a bit longer, I'll check in game and update if it's more)

3 minute cooldown on a 1-trick pony that is mislabelled as a passive ability is a thorny issue to me.

The effect seems to be heavily reduced by PI v. players, same as Tachyon Beam and CPB. The drain actually scales slightly behind Tachyon Beam 1. It will drain a Miranda's shields eventually in normal PvE. It also pulls aggro like a champ all out of proportion to its effectiveness.

LOL... Fun fun... So it is even crappier than the Sci skill that they took the Nerf Bomb to. Joy.

Actually its primary uses are to soften a target and its a step above a tachyon beam when you apply either polaron or tetryon damage. The usual mockup is running aceton, plasmotic leech, and this console. it will leave you a little on the soft side but it can drain most targets well. the only sting is its range on the distablizer console. Pve or pvp most uses for it anyways. Just makes it a extra foot you can cram up someones backside. And a side note use either max flow cap consoles mk 12 or get some fleet huh -th ones this way your compensating for that squishyness.

It is not very effective in pvp due to how power insulators scale against it. Even with a max flow capacitators max aux setup you will hardly drain half the shields of an escort.

As far as pve is concerned the long cooldown takes away a lot from the effectiveness.

I got it because it sounded like a very cool tool to use but in reality it is a very lackluster console that does not deserve taking up a slot.
