That "Hornet" class is already in the game labled as the "Vigilant" (http://sto.gamepedia.com/Tactical_Escort_Retrofit , http://sto.gamepedia.com/File:Defaul...lant_Class.jpg) and I agree with most of the others, it is butt ugly.

I fly my Defiant with a mix of original Defiant and Sao Paulo pieces,... looks good and is functional.

While the Defiant in the show did have 4 forward torpedo launchers, you are able to get basically the same effect by mounting 2 torpedo's on the front and using HY or Spread,...

Personally, I find most fan made "Kit Bashes" to be ugly, completely ignorant and/or dismissive of starship mechanics and function and totally not belonging in the game at all.

Most ships in Trek have ventral and dorsal weapon platforms, meaning at least a doubling of weapon slots. Not counting Torpedo launchers, which most ships in Trek have at least 2 of foreward and one aft.

Some license has to be taken in order to make it practical in a game. Hence the same weapon platform is used for ventral AND dorsal.

The Defiant has 4 forward slots, use 2 for Torpedo's, 1 for the Quad phaser cannon, and 1 beam array, that's about as well armed as a Defiant gets, unless your specifically building a cannon boat for max DPS.

While this may technically be true, the ships would look monumentally stupid.

The Enterprise-D (from TNG) had 12 phaser arrays, 2 torpedo launchers, and 250 antimatter mines.

How often did you see them make use of more than a handful of them on screen? Ships already look stupid with 7 beam arrays with BFAW pewpewpewing, can you imagine how stupid it would be with 12?!? Plus torp spreads?!?

The Enterprise-D on TV used one beam array at a time 90%+ of the time it was shown firing. Very very occasionally it would spam a few beams, but it was still only 3-5 in the crazy battle scenes where everything's going mental.

Right. Which was sort of my point to the OP about wanting a quad torpedo launcher,... the ship has enough weapon hard points and slots. It doesn't need anymore and the last thing game needs is another "uber weapon" for some to drool over and others to whine about.

Gotcha.

A quad torpedo launcher [dmg]x4 could be rubbish anyway, most of the "uber weapons" are pretty junky IMHO.

That was peace time. In DS9 we routinely saw galaxy class spamming beams in Dominion war.

"Routinely" is a huge exaggeration. DS9 was my favourite trek series by far, and I still can't recall a federation ship ever firing more than 7 beams simultaneously, it would just look ridiculous.
