For those KDF Captains who have earned the right to 'maraud' through enemy (Federation) territory, they should be able to attack enemy shipping.

What I mean by this is all the freighters and couriers that are flying around in Sector Space. They already show up 'tagged' as enemy ships (orange names), and I always thought it was strange we couldn't interact with them in some way.

I have two thoughts on how these attacks could occur:

1. Make it a option to pick up a Doff "Disable Human/Vulcan/Ferengi freighter" mission when flying close to them.

or

2. Have a 'Convoy' instance, much like the 'Enemy Signal Contact' ones, which let you attack a convoy and it's escorts directly, with the same rewards given in Doff 'raiding' (Disable) missions (contraband/prisoners/commodities).


My next thought of course, is striking a balance with the Feds - - should they have something similar? Since their equivelent to Marauding is Diplomacy, perhaps they could get a Doff 'Disrupt enemy supply lines" mission which entails talking 'peace' with the freighter captains disuading them from delivering thier supplies (and giving them to the Fed captain as a reward). I'm not sure how to work a 'peaceful' Disrupt enemy supply lines 'Enemy signal contact' mission though - doesn't seem very 'diplomatic' - lol!

I'd say this is for the most part already covered by the Pi Canis Raids.
It would certainly be fun if we could do the transport attacks elsewhere as well, perhaps with more complex setups but for the most part I'd say what you want is already there.

Would be neat to make it something like the borg red alerts that happen randomly, even make it somewhat pvp focused by allowing nearby feds to hop in and defend the transports(default to x npcs and despawn them as players join)

Aye, the Pi Canis raids are fun, but I guess what I meant specifically is attacking the freighters and couriers in the Sirius and Regulus sectors as well. They are showing as orange named already, indicating they are already tagged as enemy vessels.

But I also like the idea of Fed players coming to help (and giving it a logical PvP spin) too. Maybe both types could be available - PvE and PvP versions.

something like this would be sweet.. it would make me spend most of my time in fed space heh..


it could be something like, you fly up to a freighter in sector space and a scan freighter button pops up.

you hit it and its like when you scan in empire defense..

1 in 3 or whatever odds you get put in a match.

the fighter is there.. it could be heavily armed.. not so easy to blow up.. maybe even impossible to blow up.. see below.
it could have a random fed patrol.. 2 escorts, 1 science, 3 cruisers.. whatever really.

make them level 51.. make it when you blow up the freighter you get some dilithium, a couple random items.. maybe some marks? some xp.

if you want to make it really cool make it so when you blow up the patrol you have to disable the freighter and board it.. then you can fight your way to the bridge and you can either choose to kill the capt or make him surrender, giving you a better reward.


i dont really think making this pvp would be fun.. but this would be.

(i might try making something like this in a foundry mission, although an official mission like this would be nice..)

I think they could make a new Raid/War hour, where opposite forces could attack strongholds in Eta Eradani.

Federation forces could launch an attack against Ganalda Spacestation and the NPC/Players stationed there, while Klingon Froces could strike against K-7.

They could also institute something in Eta Eradani similiar to Battlestar Galatica Online's system control. I am not sure how it would be best implemented but since there is a state of war between the two powers create a system or two where the balance shifts depending on which side can build/maintain/destroy an outpost.

If there is a war going on, perhaps there should be combat situations that are warlike.

My thoughts are similar, but mostly stem from having the <expletive> freighter captains fly off mid-trade. Seriously, if an enemy warship intercepts you and then attempts peaceful trade... is it really a good idea to just wander off? Personally, I would love the option to "disable" them in order to initiate "trade" activities. At an appropriate discount for not "disabling" them too badly, of course.

Either that, or maybe, just maybe, put some freighters in Klingon space...

If I remember correctly, such a system was tested a while ago on TRIBBLE but didn't really work...sadly.

On the Fed side...I presume they wouldn't do convoy raiding.
Even though it's prefectly legal as long as you don't blow the freighter up

there are tons of people who completely misunderstand this mission and complain that it's "piracy", unethical, like burning little kitttens alive etc.
So they could get a "convoy defense" mission where they get 6 ships to protect against waves of enemy ships and the more of them are functional the more dilitium they get as a reward.

*EDIT: convoy defense on the KDF side (for example against Elachi or Tal Shiar) could be fun and give us more to do*

I don't see why not - if it is a weapons or supplies convoy. It is war, after all.

I like the idea and it would liven up the game. I would like to see something akin to "fighting for the flag" around the neutral zone so that KDF gets to attack a few Fed planets and vice-versa. The winning side now holds the planet/system, whether it is the defenders or the attackers - and then next time the event occurs - like a Borg/Tholian alert - except the losing side becomes the attacker trying to reclaim the planet or system. It should bounce back and forth, especially if there is a slight advantage given to the attacking side somehow - whichever side it is - thereby maintaining an overall stalemate and making them repeatable, but constantly changing as to who the attacker/defender is. Naturally, there should be rewards for the winning side, and if the defence is harder, to balance the overall conflict, then successful defences should get better rewards, to entice people to participate in them, instead of waiting for the slightly easier attacking option.

Klingons should be allowed to disrupt the shipping lane after all there is a war on though we seem to have a cease fire or truce at the moment. like the idea that is PVE and some PVP in there give my Breen ship more to destroy
