# 1 Tholian Set Viable?
08-08-2013, 08:53 AM
Hi all, been debating which MkXII set to choose for my escort now I've hit tier V across the board.

Originally, the choice was between 2 pieces OMEGA Mk XI and 2 Pieces Adapted Maco (for the projectiles bonus).

Out of curiosity I looked on the Tholian space set on stowiki (http://sto.gamepedia.com/Nukara_Stri...e_Technologies) and saw that far from sucking as I expected it too (remember the disappointment of the Reman set?), the stats actually looked very good.

Are those stats accurate in relation to the others on their(ie not affected by skills, ship type etc)?

Superb engine, excellent deflector. Nice set bonuses (though not as good as 2 piece KHG).

Even the shield looked pretty nice, though I probably wouldnt use it over Elite Fleet.

Anyway, my question is thus: do we finally have another pvp viable set? or am I missing something?

If I could get some advice while I'm here as well. I run 4 DHC's and the Hyper DBB, all tetryon on my Charal, and I'm specced into Flow Caps (6 ranks) with a single embassy flow caps console. Tholian Mines aft.

Should I ditch the 2 piece OMEGA set, with the tet glider and (small) acc boost it provides, for the vastly superior looking nukara engine and ultra durable deflector?

Tet glider doesnt seem too work nearly as well as it used too, though that could just be me.

Or should I pick up the Adapted Honor Guard Set, for the Aux and Projectile bonus? (if I did, I'd probably ditch a single DHC for a Torp).

I always love new sets coming out, makes me want to use it simply so i'm *not* using two piece Borg and whatever shield. But from what little i've seen of the new set (I've only gotten hold of the Mk.12 shield so far) it's very tetryon heavy. I'm not really a fan of tetryon tbh.

i use tetryon, and the set isn't worth.

Can be a decent for pvp? yes, but there are better options

The set bonusses are nothing of interest. However, providing you are willing to sacrifice set bonusses from the other sets, some can be nice in specific builds:

*For a sci healer: the deflector. It has good numbers in heal/resists; but you could also get the Maco or a positron deflector.

*For an escort: the engine. Although not hyper, you will still have speeds above 24 = max speed defense. The additional shield power is the nice part, especially when you use speed tanking with low chield power. Then you gain even more. But also for escorts other engines do very well.

Thanks everyone, makes my choices a lot easier.

Definitely going to be between 2 Piece Adapted MACO, and 2 Pieces OMEGA.

Just dont know which to pick. Will probably pick up Adapted MACO, since Tet glider isnt doing nearly as much as it used to, even with a flow caps console.

Tets strip shields anyway, the AUX and mines boost will more than compensate.
