I just don't see what's so hard about making a ship like a Fleet Galaxy Dread, Fleet Garumba or etc. Buff the hull and shield modifier, add a console slot and maybe change up the BoFF layout a tiny bit. It's not like designing a whole new ship or anything. If the powers that be are so interested in making money upgrading ships is a no-brainer.

Nothing is hard about making them, the hard part is selling them. How do you get people to buy the Garumba and the Fleet Garumba? OK for all us Garumba owners it's a no brainer. 1 Module (500 Zen or however much EC) for 10% more Shields & Hull and an extra Console slot. But how do you make such a unique ship with a built in ability marketable to the people who just want the Fleet version.

With say the Armitage vs the FHEC you get the Console and an Awesome skin, but you can't do that with ships with only a single design and built in features. Nobody is going to accept the Javelin/Lance becoming a Console. Heck what's the excuse for the Kar'fi it comes with a console already.

If you change a BOFF layout it should become more flexible and not make the old layout impossible. I'd hate to see a Fleet Garumba with a Tac or Sci Ens but would be fine with a Universal one.

If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why.
When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

Like the Vor'cha R and want it in Fleet, We call it the Fleet K'Tinga. I argue the Vor'cha should have stayed the same and the K'Tinga become the Tor'kaht. At least the option is still there sort of.

The Fleet K'Tinga has less hull and shields than the normal T5 Vor'cha but a better turn rate so swapping the BOFF layout of the Fleet K'Tinga and the Tor'Kaht makes more sense. Shield and Hull data taken from the Wiki

Vor'cha R: 36,000 Hull, 4975 Mk VIII Shields, Shield Modifier of 1
Fleet K'Tinga 34,450 Hull, 4912 Mk X Shields, Shield Modifier of 1.1

They pulled a similar trick with the Federation Fleet Ugly Monstrosity* (Heavy Cruiser) using the Assault BOFF layout and changing the Assault on it's Refit and Fleet versions.

* While this is my personal opinion nothing I could do to that ship could make it look halfway decent. Back than I had a KDF Tac main, and a Fed Eng to experience the story. I ended up buying the Akira with EC (Yeah back when ships cost EC before Dilithium was introduced) and flying that.

I always thought the Akira should have been the Cruiser and the Escort should have been something else.

" Never believe a game company until you see what they promised is patched in. "

Even then I have a hard time.

The problem is that the 3D ship artists are currently bogged down with work (why else would they be hiring another? Geko implied/stated in the Priority One supplemental that the 3D art/animation jobs are for ship modeling in STO).

They don't want to release a Fleet Galaxy-X until they give it Saucer Sep. They don't want to give it Saucer Sep until they can port over the tech from the Odyssey instead of using the method currently used by the Galaxy-R. To do that, they need to rebuild and re-animate the Galaxy models. To get that done while also producing more ships of an acceptable quality to accompany new content, they need another ship artist.

In other words, if you have 3 years of experience in 3D modeling for video games and are both looking for a new job and reading this post, why aren't you applying? The Klingon Defense Force needs you!

I think the problem we have is that people like the OP, dont seem to understand the complexities of actualy making a ship for a game, its not just a case of draw it in 3d and there you go, there is a huge amount of programing, 3d modeling, animation programing etc that has to go into making just a single ship, this can take months or even years depending on what there doing, heck the romy vet ship took months to make, and they didnt release it untill it was finished, so if they say there gona make a fleet ship and they say it will be out at somepoint soon, then they probably are making it, just give the poor people chance to do it FGS.

heres my 2 cents. i am extremly happy we finally have content from 1-50. in all honesty there isn't much more i want from the devs. all that would make me happy and keep me content is if cryptic would spend as much time fixing kdf bugs as they do fed bugs.

also i don't think 1 kdf mission a year is asking too much. it would be something and as long as new content and stuff gets fixed and added i will be content. on that note what would make me the happiest person in the world is a t5 D5 battlecruiser. i would pay any amount of money for this.
