Sorry it could be im tired or not thinking fully, so it would work but it would be laggy? Which I could deal with. So it would work with low settings on?

That is an 8x card, your slot is only 4x which means the card would run at a slower clock speed (if the card supports this, some do, some don't). It also has very limited video memory for a game like this (though Cryptic doesn't list a minimum). Definitely will be laggy.

or would that card work better?

I can't say for sure since Amazon hasn't posted all the specs and you can't see on the box to see if it says 8x or 8x/4x. Like I said, some will run at the slower clock speed some will not. No matter what you do you will lag on low settings. Your processor doesn't meet minimum either, and your memory barely does. Adding a second gig of memory would be cheap and easy to help too. You didn't mention what video card you are using now.

Q: What are the system requirements?
A: The minimum system requirements are:

* OS: Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista / Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit)
*CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz or AMD Athlon X2 3800+
* Memory: 1GB RAM
* Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7950 / ATI Radeon X1800 / Intel HD Graphics
* Sound: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Soundcard
* DirectX: Version 9.0c or Higher
* HDD: 10GB Free Disk Space
* Network: Internet Broadband Connection Required
* Disc: 6X DVD-ROM

If it's NVIDIA, it needs to at least be the upper 7000s series. There is NO AGP card that can do that, last I checked.

The card you linked is the 5000 series, the same series that had some issues running even World of ******** without chopping.

Your best bet is the 7600 for AGP, I think that's the best you're going to get for your slot. Keep in mind, it's going to go slower since it's running on a old 4x slot.

With that being said, it's below min system requirements. You're looking at running the game with 1gig ram, a old single core cpu and a video card that doesn't met the minimum. It won't just be laggy, it may not even run. Minimum requirements is the lowest you can usually go and have it still playable (but laggy). Going below that is not recommended by me or anyone else.

I believe that's on par with the GeForce 5600 FX or so (not really an ATI guy). If it doesn't work the NVidia card isn't going to either.

The very best AGP 8x card is this - BFG GeForce 7800 GS OC 256 MB GDDR3 AGP Graphics Card

But its hard to find anymore and made specifically for an 8x slot. I have one in my old, old, old, computer. hehe. Haven't tried to run STO on it since I've built my wife and myself each new towers and bought an Alienware laptop since I built that one.

Edit - and it is under minimum spec.

EDIT: I misread the post, sorry. Yes it's similar to the early 9000 ati series.

the 5000 series work off of a 64 bit memory interface, the 7600 series runs off of a 128bit and it's double the ram. The clock on the 7600 is 420 vs 250. Memory speed is DDR2 vs DDR1. Overall, the 7600 is around 4-5 times better. Still doesn't met minimum requirements.

The ATI alternative would be:

Expensive and the HD series weren't made for games in mind last I check, but it may be better then the Nividia cards. I'm not much into ATI so I can't compare.

Wouldn't work in a 4x slot. =(

Ya, I don't think the game will ever be fun with his motherboard unfortunately. If it even lets him run it.

Well considering all that you told me and my computer not being able to run it, Ive just decided to save my money to buy a new computer. I just wanted some tips on what i should get.

Also i really dont mean to be a pest but would this computer be a good deal?
