I'm not so tired, but I would give anything to have my Monbosh Moonbase's stats on the Sovereign or Excelsior.

I wonder if others have noticed this trend and if so is this a signal for Cryptic to develop the traditional ships further rather than introducing the latest alien designs? We would all no doubt love to do more inside our ships, have them faithfully represent the ships we grew up with on the shows much as they have done in superb detail with the TOS Enterprise ship pack. How I would love that on my Galaxy, I would be prepared to pay for further development of the existing ships, with ship packs, shuttle bays, a Ten Forward type area, astrometrics, a realistic sick bay and so on.

What do you guys think?
I can agree with this, as much as I enjoy my JHDC I'd prefer it to be a Federation carrier, same with my Chel gret, I like it but I wouldn't mind it not being a Breen ship. Imagine how odd it would be for Picard to return to Earth Spacedock to see a bunch of Dominion and Breen ships!

I'd love to see shipboard d'off assignments actually being carried out in an expanded interior.

as for the Scimitar there's the ongoing argument as to why the Federation would allow an alliance with a culture using Thalaron, I could see the KDF not really caring but surely D'Tan wouldn't want to be using such a weapon either...

I have been tired of alien ships for a long time, but I understand why they're in the game: they make STO more money then C-Store ships. As long as Cryptic doesn't start putting Fed, KDF, and Rom ships in Lockboxes I'm willing to ignore it.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I have the Galor, D'Kora, Tholian Orb Weaver and Jem?Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier.
But i don't use them at all. It seems that i bought them in a short tough of madness, blinded by their great BOFF/Console Layout but never used them really.
If i could, i would sell them in an instant.

It seems that i always end up flying the Mirror Assault Cruiser or GCS.
Heck i don't even use my fleet Regent, lol.

For me the ship (meaning and appearance) come first, then its statistics.
Of course when using my Mirror AC i use only the best weapons and equipment i can find and i am never tired to try some new builds, but i would never use a ship only because it is OP.
Maybe that's why i hate Escorts.
(Man i hate it when i am fighting a group of NPCs and suddenly there comes a escort and blows everything up in seconds. If anything the biggest ship around should be able to do that, but not the smallest )

But i cannot say that i have noticed a change so that other people would use more Starfleet or their factions specific ships.
Of course there is a unbleiveable amount of Scimitars but that's always the case if some new OP ship comes out. Nevertheless doesn't STO feel more than a Trek circus than some months ago, lol.

In many weekly TV shows it is the people that we tune in to see, I think some shows are a little different, with ST it's not just our favourite characters but also the ships. TNG was so successful because not only did it have incredible casting and good stories but it had a real hero in the form of the Galaxy, a ship that remains incredibly popular ingame despite Cryptic's best efforts to neuter it's performance.

I really do feel it is time Cryptic looked at the traditional ST ships from all sides and developed them further rather than introducing alien ships, especially in large numbers on the increasingly dodgy premise that they are salvaged by entrepreneurial Ferengis!

The only thing I'm tired of is the power creep that these lockbox alien ships represent. Then again, I actually care about PvP, something Cryptic doesn't seem to trouble themselves with all that much.

And on the other side of that is me, the guy who doesn't care about PvP and so doesn't mind if new ships get power creep, as the NPC AI ships should be getting the same power creep as the player's ships. Thus it's a wash.

It irritates me to see Fed captains flying around in Breen/Cardassian/Tholian/* ships. One reason is that it breaks immersion and thus harms the current gameplay. The other reason is that it mortgages the future, since these ships cant be used for new factions. It is short-term easy $$ that damages the game.

It took them over 3 years to put out a new micro-Faction. Mortgaging the future seems somewhat pointless if it takes them 2 years to put out the next micro-Faction - or if they never put out a next one, but rather decide to go in a different direction with the next Expansion, like a new sector and new end-game content.

Long-term planning is fine, but you also need to keep the needs of today involved. The truth is the Lockbox ships have demand, and we might never get another micro-Faction.
