# 1 Inspirational Leader Trait
09-16-2013, 06:03 PM
Hi folks,

Wondering if Inspirational Leader trait is worth it. If so, what trait should I give up?

I have the following traits: accurate, Crippling fire, elusive, helmsman, precise, techie, warp theorist, Last ditch effort.

Not used it myself but I hear it was bugged giving you 3 stacks whenever you used an ability that pulsed, since been fixed though.

Just remember that it gives a 10% chance of +10 to all skills including threat control so if you're doing PvE and are in an escort it might not be for the best.

I know a lot of PvPers seem to have it and I would probably replace warp theroist if I were to use it.

My own personal opinion of it is helmsman is better and it's a chance for a small buff that favours fast cycling of abilities. Tactical heavy ships will get more out of it I dare say.

Correction. 10% to get +10 on all skills for 15sec and it can stack up to 3 times. When you proc the 2nd/3rd time, the counter goes back to 15sec.

Thanks for the clarification though I was only highlighting it was going to increase threat generation, maybe I should have just left it saying it gives +10 to threat when it procs -.-

I'd give up 'Precise,' without thinking further (not to be confused with 'Accurate'). You don't need it. That 1 time you ever need to shoot down that stray plasma torp, you can do so just fine without the extra accuracy against it.

'Crippling Fire' isn't really what's is cracked up to be, either, but still a lot more useful than 'Precise.'

And to answer your question: definitely worth it, IMHO. Inspirational Leader can stack up to 3 times. And yes, that means Threat Control too. But with all [-Th] consoles floating around, not really an issue (at least not for me).

I'm not worried about extra threat as I'm a tactical cruiser. I currently run a AuxtoBat Cruiser and the weakest part of this build is lack of hull heals so I'm hesitant to lose Techie for hull repair and regeneration. Maybe warp theorist...but not sure if the loss of +10 Starship electroplasma and +10 warp core potential is going to impact my energy levels and Emergency Power to X abilities. If course if Inspirational Leader procs often enough...I may not miss the loss.

Worth that cost though? I mean yeah its an awesome ability, but thats likes $50 actual money for a trait (last I looked on the Exchange anyways). Yikes.

the cost is not the issue as I already have it but what other trait do I need to sacrifice...or is it even worth sacrificing for?

A while back there was a discussion over the possibility of "precise" improving accuracy against all moving targets, scaling effectiveness as targets moved at higher speed. I have no proof of this, however I have noticed a higher hit percentage on fast moving escorts than I did before adding the trait. maybe its built in, maybe its bugged, either way I'd think cruisers would use it a lot more since it balances them out a bit more against escorts.

Regarding leadership...you have a 1 in 10 chance per ability activation to pop all skills +10 for 15 seconds. Once u have popped the first +10, if you happen to stack a 2nd before the 15 seconds is up, the timer starts over for BOTH +10 stacks...so +20 for 15 seconds. If you pop a 3rd during the 15 second window, the timer starts over again, and thus becomes +30 for 15 seconds. this can be maintained so long as the ability activates within the 15 second window, but it wont go above 30...tho it will stay at 30 instead of losing the 1st or 2nd proc. improving ALL skills 30 is definitely worth the price, because many of us dont have a lot invested in the top tier skills, and 30 in those can make quite a bit of difference in survivability, damage production, and sci skills.
