# 1 (E)STF Boot Camp...
09-22-2013, 06:36 AM
After the success of PvP Boot Camp I was just wondering if there could be an (E)STF version.

I'm a newish player and want to get into ESTFs, but after trawling through the forums reading threads on the subject, looking for as much info as is available on builds, BoFFs, DoFFs, tactics, hints and tips etc. I'm left feeling both over and underwhelmed by it all...

Maybe it would be possible to do the same for ESTFs as has been done for PvP?

Anyone have any thoughts on this idea?

When I first started getting into ESTFs (man that was a long time ago lol), the first thing I did was go straight to Youtube. There's a whole bunch of videos there with people showing off their ship builds and the like in ESTFs, but you can watch those to see how the fight itself works instead. After that just jump straight in to Infected Space Elite. It can't be failed so it's a good place to learn. Just follow the lead of the other party members and you should be fine.

An ESTF boot camp isn't a bad idea per say, but at the same time it isn't as needed as much as a PVP boot camp is. PVE just doesn't have the same learning curve that PVP does. You can easily become a pro just by watching a few videos to get an idea on how the fight works and then jumping in and getting some experience doing it for yourself.

^^This is pretty much it.

The first time I ever did KASN, I didn't know what to do but just went along with it. After that, I read up and learned some stuff, then went into KASE with my friend knowing exactly what to do - and only having done normal once before.

I've thought on this too. I'm thinking maybe there should just be a series of Foundry tutorial missions that teach the basic techniques and strategies of each one.

Honestly, loadout and equipment don't mean that much if you know what you're doing. Walking people through the 10% rule or RML or probe duty would make things that much better in the long run.

I almost thing they should be REQUIRED to even get into Normal STFs and then into Elites. That said, I kind of agree with one sentiment I've seen: Drop normals entirely. They don't actually TEACH anything as it is. Replace them with the idea of a tutorial and leave it at that and maybe we could have better matches in the long run.
