Both the Akira and the Prometheus are in the cruiser weightclass. The Akira being a heavy one while the Prometheus with it's length of roughly 400 meters was a rather big light cruiser.

Keep in mind that a "cruiser" in Star Trek has nothing to do with STOs classification. A cruiser type vessel simply shows that those ships were multi-mission capable, following Starfleet's design mantra. While both of them and the Sovereign class heavy cruiser as well were probably designed with more emphasize on tactical missions (the Promeheus even heavily, though in canon there is only one prototype existing) they still follow Starfleet's ship lines. The only vessel not to be considered as multi-mission capable is the Defiant class.

Yes the Akira is a Heavy Cruiser but this is not what I'm trying to Debate The Federation armament consisted mostly of Phaser Beam Weapons including on more Combat based ships such as the Prometheus and not just the Federation but also on other Combat based ships Such as the Jem'Haddar Attack Ship used a Forward Firing Phased Polaron Beam weapon but in the Game the only viable option for Weapons is to fill the Forward weapon slots with Dual Heavy Cannons all I vote to have is a Beam Based option for Escorts so we Can have more Canon weapon Setups in the Game.

You are absolutely right, though I don't think escorts need more love. DBB and beam turrets (that are just turrets but with beam weapon type) would be sufficient. The heavy cruisers in the game, however, need more firepower in terms of heavy beam arrays in my opinion. After all, the big Explorer type starcruisers and battlecruisers should support enough firepower to threaten planets via orbital bombardements. Yet escorts with their puny cannons are damage king.

Actually dual HEAVY cannons should be limited to battlecruisers as well. Escorts and Raptors should work with DBBs and DCs/Cs. But hey, that ship sailed loooong ago. This is no Star Trek simulation, it's a cheap space shooter

Ok, there is no where in the show showing the Jem Haddar Attack Ship as the most deadly ships in the Dominon War. That ship was considered as a fighter class and it was mostly cannon fodder in most of the battles. I was just the most mass produced weapon the Jam'Haddar weapon like the troops were.

I remember the episode when the Enterprise D changed the climate and volcanic action of a whole planet with firing phaser shots throught the planet crust.

If only Orbital Strike worked like that.

The so called Jem'hadar "fighter" is the common tongue name for the Jem'hadar attackship.

its an at least defiant sized Ship, evidenced by every battle scene involving the two, and that one episode where sisko and crew are leading piloting one of those ships against an attacking federation centaur class frigate that was not in on the plan of the admiralty.

Now, the "power" of the ship is wildly inconsistent - what is clear is that it does feature a lot of firepower with that frontal polaron beam weapon.

It also is shown in the first appearance of this ship to be fired in pulse fire mode. So in STO terms: it should be able to fit single beams/single canons and heavy single cannons and heavy single beams...

But cryptic is a bunch of unmotivated folks, we will like never get new weapon types: only re-rolls of already existing ones with tweaked sound and colors...

If thy do add weapons to make out ships more canon like without gimping them, then they sure as fck will get money from me for proper service rendered.

Actually in the First Battle it was firing Torpedoes not Pulses but Yeah I know Cryptic isn't always concerned if the Content is Canon but If we get enough Support for a wider variety of Beam weapons the Cryptic will notice us and might Consider adding them.
