Erm... wait, so now the +all beam damage or + all cannon damage consoles are sitting... where?

And now energy specific ones have been introduced by are +25% and +some type of crit bonus?

Herm... well at least it will allow for mixed cannons and beams if you don't skittle boat, but really, I'm not sure why we have energy specific consoles and beam and cannon consoles... we don't have sci consoles that are specifically for increasing the capacity on covariant shields and if you want to get regenerative or resilient, you're gonna need new consoles, so why must we change out our tac consoles when we switch energy weapon type? I vote the fleet consoles are just +25% energy damage +crit bonus and +25% kinetic damage +crit bonus, and let them be the cream of the crop, not for just being the most epic uber damage, but for their versatility on being able to be used with any energy/kinetic type.

Look I agree they have to release something, but what they are doing with these tactical consoles is literally destructive to STO since there isn't enough new content that raises the bar. Instead we are still playing the same awful content that was with STO at the launch, which is getting easier and easier with this power creep. And without some kind of challenge, people will leave out of boredom because "it's too easy".

And also, Cryptic is ignoring the STO Economy! They trivalized their old console with these Fleet Holding consoles. Who wants those old blue or purple MK11s when you an easily get Purple MK12s that are superior in capability?

Cryptic is shooting themselves in the feet and they don't care. The game is stupidly easy now, and it's getting less interesting, especially when the team are lacking in imagination to step up the challenge. At this rate, without a decent challenge, people will just up and leave the game out or pure boredom.
When they make content harder, people complain it's too difficult.

Most stuff in STO is RIDICULOUS expensive at the high end. going from +28% energy damage to +30% energy damage takes us from maybe a 4mil console at 28 to 30!!! million at 30. It's ridiculous. I have no problem with cryptic bringing these insane prices more into perspective with fleet gear. And fleet gear isn't THAT easy to come by, you have build up your fleet assets to acquire them, provision for them, and get the resources to get the creds/dilithium to pay for it... the most difficult part in big fleets being getting credits because everyone's scrambling to fill in the projects.

And, dear cryptic, where's the million fleet mark project to mirror the million dilithium project? WHERE?! <-(insert dramatic voice)

You mean the economy where a single mk xii purple console sells for more then most ships?

Yeah the grind is bad enough in the game, without having the few new players that do come in be told that you have to grind a single couple of foundry missions each day for 4 hours each day, for days on end to get enough ec to buy a single purple mkxii console.

So no, making consoles more easily available to all players, old and new will mean more players will want to get into PvP because they won't get steamrolled by the players that have spent years min-maxing their build. Easier access and a more level playing field means less frustration for new players, increasing the PvP player base, revitalizing it. It just means that you who have spent 2 years PvPing will actually have to start learning to play and not relying on gear anymore.

The THIS GAME IS DOOMED thread is in the general discussion thread. You may want to go post this drivel there.

Make it too hard and frustrating for new players to get into the game and be competative, means they'll leave sooner then later, and as the longer time players get bored and move on, as they all eventually do, we get a smaller and smaller player base. The game needs to be inviting to new players who haven't spent billions of EC and millions of Dilithium on gear to be competative and feel like they are contributing.

Nothing worse then realizing that vanilla STFs are dead because all the veterans are in Elites, so going for elite and realizing that you're being steamrolled and being called noobs and insulted because you don't have billions of EC in gear and the hundreds of hours in Rep system that you need. Now they can get into an established fleet, just grind for dilithium, and with a little help from the fleet, be competative and feel like they are contributing to the team and feel like staying.

This however is the nature of powercreep. It becomes way too easy for the veterans, but too hard for the new players, alienating both sides of the field, and the game dies. But of course without the new shiny toys, people cry for the lack of new shiny toys and leave

Its a damn be damned situation.

A couple million fleet mark project would be nice for those of us stuck with too many of them in T5 mid size fleets.

My feeling on these consoles is the true power of them are in the crti hit/dam. modifiers. depending on the passive powers given in the rep grind and other powers, plus the various weapons that have been rewards or rep system unlocks these consoles make many of them viable. These tac consoles along with the nukarua universal console will help beam arrays a lot and make for some very fun builds.
