Just don't flip out, Tactical Consoles that increase Beam and Cannon damage have always been not as good as the ones that boost Phaser and Disruptor damage.

How is it good for the community as a whole when there is a new grind fest sinkhole that gives something that is worth less than a random Purple MK XI drop just to benefit a few players greed for near worthless EC?

How is it good when those who are "farming" the consoles cannot get something good from the new fleet holding themselves aside from warp cores that you can get good quality from the mine already?

Sorry but the loss of members contributing to the holding as a whole because the long awaited and desired fleet tac consoles are worth less than what one can get from a drop from any content is by far more of an alarming factor than keeping someones greedy farm going.
Have you seen the numbers other members have crunched for these new Consoles?
For KDF and Romulan Alpha strike captians these will be a must have. You think one shotting and insta-kills were bad before? These consoles should be able to make beefed up crusiers go boom in under 2 seconds. They will have the Captians that know already how to exploit crit doing things that will have others screaming "hack" They will be a game changer once the PVP community get thier hands on them.

Indeed, I was hoping more for energy+ torp damage myself, but I must admit I like a trend away from energy specific, it's rather irritating having to have enough room for all the weapons of a type and their associated consoles, especially if you try several different types. However, they really, REALLY need to make it just +25% energy damage if they're going to go generic, otherwise these are pretty useless on any ship that uses beams and cannons. The game needs to be geared more toward variety builds being viable instead of min/max all cannons or all beams. A defiant with cannons and beams and torps like in the show should be viable in game, not a joke.

Right now, the only energy/torp bonus is the plasma ones. I use them on my escort and I do a fair bit of damage, but I'd rather use others that don't set me on fire if I make a pass too close.

This is a copy from another post. Another user crunched the numbers. Just look at the Crit damage numbers and tell me thse wont be a game-changer:

Well, let's get some CrtH/CrtD numbers for the guys (I'll probably forget something).

CrtH
+2.5% Base
+2.0% Specialization
+0.76% Tachyo
+1.8% 0Point
+0.92% Borg
+5.13% APA3
+4% 2x Emb BOFFs/+10% 5x Rom BOFFs

Non-Rom: +17.11%
Rom: +23.11%

CrtD
+50.0% Base
+25.0% Specialization
+7.6% Tachyo
+9.2% Borg
+15.2% Bioneural
+51.3% APA3
+10% 2x Emb BOFFs/+25% 5x Rom BOFFs

Non-Rom: +168.3%
Rom: +183.3%

So we should be able to see our Average DPS for each.

Non-Rom: BaseDPS * (1 + 0.1711 * 1.683) = 1.2879613*BaseDPS
Rom: BaseDPS * (1 + 0.2311 * 1.833) = 1.4236063*BaseDPS

So if we add in say 4x of the +8% CrtD consoles.

Non-Rom: BaseDPS * (1 + 0.1711 * 2.003) = 1.3427133*BaseDPS
Rom: BaseDPS * (1 + 0.2311 * 2.153) = 1.4975583*BaseDPS

Non-Rom Gain: +0.054752 * 100 = +5.4752%
Rom Gain: +0.073952 * 100 = +7.3952%

Well, there's no perspective there...it's better for the Rom regardless.

Hrmm, but we were looking at a +10% CrtH boost. Let's run the numbers with that just to see.

Non-Rom: BaseDPS * (1 + 0.2711 * 1.683) = 1.4562613*BaseDPS
Rom: BaseDPS * (1 + 0.3311 * 1.833) = 1.606723*BaseDPS

Non-Rom Gain: +0.1683 * 100 = +16.83%
Rom Gain: +0.1831167 * 100 = +18.31167%

Still going to be a larger gain for the Rom.

Hrmm, wait, this was with a 6% difference in CrtH to start - not a 10%. Let's run some bogus numbers.

Non-Rom: BaseDPS * (1 + 0.1 * 0.5) = 1.05*BDPS
Rom: BaseDPS * (1 + 0.2 * 0.5) = 1.1*BDPS

+10%

Non-Rom: BaseDPS * (1 + 0.2 * 0.5) = 1.1*BDPS
Rom: BaseDPS * (1 + 0.3 * 0.5) = 1.15*BDPS

Non-Rom Gain: +0.05 * 100 = +5%
Rom Gain: +0.05 * 100 = +5%

I'm exited about this. Sure i my lose some overall damage but getting boosts to crit rates will improve that a lot, especially for my fed character who can't get anywhere near my romulan.

Even if it's only +2% crit rate, i'll gladly take +8% crit rate for a loss of 10% damage. It'll more than make up for it. Especially on my Avenger with the 5 fore DHCs.

HOWEVER. I do agree that they should be by damage type and not weapon type. It screws people that use beams/cannons and invites more rainbow boats.

If they did that then you would have rage from all the people that spent 100's of millions of EC to get 4 or 5 XII VR Tac Consoles and bascially kill the Tac console market like they did the Armor console market with the new Fleet Eng consoles from the Dil mine. These consoles will help all cannon or all beam builds. Get ready for Rainbow FAW, AUX2Batt APB cruisers galore.

I can guarantee 1 thing for sure - these WON"T sell well unless they are boosted up to the 28% mark of purple Mk XI dedicated weapon type.

Why would anyone go on a rainbow or skittles boat for less? And if you are not making a rainbow build then why not stick with the dedicated weapon type?

Trust me these WILL collect dust at less than 28%

Maybe it's a good thing? At least one fleet item won't be the 'omega supreme end-all be-all' choice for tac consoles.

Besides, it's still in testing, who knows what could happen between now and season release.
