# 1 Continuous disconnects
10-04-2013, 10:10 PM
I seem to keep getting disconnected. My internet connection is stable, and my computer is working fine.

Anyone else having this problem?

Your connection to your ISP may be stable, but is the ISP connection to the STO Servers stable? Use the 'Net Test' and 'Trace Route' network diagnostics described in this thread...

http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/sh...d.php?t=225155

... and post the results, as that will provide some clues if its your ISP that is causing your STO connection problems...

STO's servers are definitely having odd issues, since I run continuous trace/ping tests. ADDITIONALLY, there was also a period of network disruption on one of those Cogent links during Patch Rush, as the patch was so huge. However, the account server seems to be periodically crapping out and not answering connections, or just flat out dropping them.

The latency value, by itself, isn't bad. There is a suspicious increase of latency on the Qwest Communication gateway to the Cogent backbone...

The question that needs to be asked is whats your connection throughput. (And this is what the 'Net Test' diagnostics would show.) A low throughput could indicate a issue with severe packet drop somewhere in the route to the STO servers. A failed connection could indicate a configuration problem with the Firewall/Router or possibly ISP blocking.

So with whats been presented so far, there is not enough information to determine what the problem is...

And again with the lag, rubber banding and constant disconnects!!!

SORT OUT YOUR ACCOUNT SERVER PWE... yep, this is where the issue stems from (for me, anyhow).

Every time I get a D/C and return to the loading screen, it's asking for my old cryptic username.. which doesn't exist anymore & which I've never even entered on this current install!!

Last weekend when getting constant D/C's, the same thing. Now again, a ping time of up to 350ms is perfectly acceptable for a long distance connection & running a continual ping loop test, no packets are lost so it's not that.

So It's NOT an INTERNET ROUTE issue, it's a GAME SERVER issue

I owe Cryptic and everyone else an apology. I tried the instructions and did the ip release and renew and it solved my problem. Thanks everyone and sorry for assuming that since I could play other MMo's with no issue it was Cryptic. Man I feel like a Butt now lol.

I'm sorry if I'm reserecting an old thread but I am getting random crashes from STO, usually when it is loading between ground to space and vice versa, but also recently when running around ESD and New Romulus. Below is the tech info I have managed to gather but would like to know if anyone has had similar problems and if there is a fix for it as it is becoming very annoying to have to keep logging in every 10 mins.

From what I can gather from other posts is the tracert and nettest are within norms so I don't think it is the connection but either at the cryptic end or my computer.

come back later on the same day, everything is right back to how it was before the patch
