So have fun out there... may see ya in that mass of ships around our next stop!
Earth Space Dock Control received an inbound hail requesting clearance from a long-absent ship. The USS Chesapeake was warping in, and requesting to dock at the maintenance/repair slip. Dropping from warp, and moving into the thrusters only area - it was clear as to why. The Chesapeake had taken a battering at the hands of the Klingons in recent combat areas, and was in need of refit and repairs. Even Valvoraz, the Klingon Engineer, noted for setting off pylon stress alarms, was treating the Chesapeake like a wounded patient.
Adm Rock was relieved to finally have the ship safely in the dock, and had transferred over to the USS Hurts-U, the fleet escort. While a small ship, it had plenty of power, and with the forward cannons, could certainly bite any foe. He also managed some time to enjoy the "special" whiskey sent over by Adm. Raincrow. While certainly not his normal preference, it was quite good, and he suspected Adm Raincrow had some assistance in the process. The last batch he got, certainly wasn't the quality, and Adm Rock did not want to consider what lengths Adm. Raincrow might have taken to procure this fine a blend........
Adm Rock, having grown dramatically uneasy around ESD sector space, ordered the Hurts-U out of Earth Space Dock as soon as possible, and had the ship heading for Alhena in the Eta Sector to pick up extra deuterium supplies. As always, the demanding, annoying Ferengi in charge of the contract was being difficult. A rogue Galor and Keldon had been in the area, and were caught lurking near the supply area. Rock was happy to give the Hurts-U a good mission shake-down fight. The Science Teams were a bit unhappy, as they had limited space on the ship, but the Lynda and the burly Breen, FrostFoot simply loved the snare-drum crashing sound of the forward dual heavy cannons volley fire. The Galor and Keldon did not seem to appreciate it much, and despite evasive maneuvers to avoid it, were unable to match the turn rate of the nimble Dervish-class escort, and were little match for ship and it's crew.
Having dispatched the rogue elements, picked up some surplus deuterium from the ungrateful Ferengi, Rock ordered the crew to stand down, warp out of the sector, but to leave some fireworks behind to aggravate the annoying weasel like Ferengi. They were all to happy to comply.
"Admiral - you have an incoming hail, priority channel" -- It was Lynda, his best tactical officer. While disturbing resembling an old flame to Rock, she was quite capable, and was a constant Bridge Officer on duty. "Put it through, please" called Rock over the intercom.
Adm Jekyll rather disturbing visage appeared on Rock's screen and seemed, well....rather tense. "Rock, I need you over in Gamma. Adm ObiWan has been on my last nerve all day, and we have to take an expedition through Sibiran and Vorn space. I have two new ship-drivers that are going along, Gardin and Renard. Can you get over here shortly? I could really use the help."
Rock sighed, feeling Scylla and Charybdis, wanting some down time, and just getting the ship in order, but a call from a fleet-mate for help takes priority. "Be en-route shortly, Jekyll -- but seriously - What is it with ObiWan? Do we need to have Adm Raincrow do a crew-morale session over there? Or is it your crew that needs the 'mingle-time' ?" The countenance on Jekyll face did not improve any with that comment....and Rock suspected a both may be required. Honestly, Jekyll and Obiwan were on great terms, but perhaps denying a forming bromance was straining things.
The small escort nimbly dropped into the Sibiran sector, and the small task force finally formed up, Rock, Jekyll, Obiwan, Renard, and Gardin. The lurking Borg patrol force was easily dispatched during which Rock called on the combat channel "Gardin -- tactical doctrine states it advisable to stay away from the exploding Borg Cubes. Least you be forced to buy rounds of drinks for the rest of us...." but Rock new it was going to be an interesting run, when one of the task force triggered the jump gate way early , while he was directly in front of it.
"Emergency Power to shields, rotate frequencies....and hang on. This is gonna get bumpy1" Rock called to his crew........ All other commands being lost in the thrump thrump thrump of the heavy cannons, the snarl from the Klingon engineer and the whimpering of the Ferengi Science officer........
