I got the Admin message about being able to play the Borg character. When I logged out and went to log back in the STUPID stema client started to update the program even though it was already update from when I logged in at 1pm est.

Now I sit here and watch the darn thing take forever to download while I lose out on precious time playin.

Most steam users are in the same boat. I am at 48% now after 4 and a half hours.

Welcome to Patch Trek Online!

Yep. 49% at ~600KB/s.. no matter that I have a 5MB/s connection.
This is the first, and last game I buy from Steam. At least until I buy the next one...

For those who have a fear of this, create a shortcut on your desktop to the launcher in your steam directory. I am willing to bet it will work the same as **** did for me by launching the launcher without being signed into steam. Let the launcher handle your updates.

Also I think there is an option to turn off auto updates in steam, you might want to toggle until this whole thing is sorted out.

I hate it for you steam people. I thought I had it bad being at work until 6 CST tonight.

Here's a fix for you:

Go into your steam folder (default: Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\star trek online )

Right click Star Trek Online in your Steam Games list. Hit Properties. Tell Steam to never update the game again.

Make a shortcut from the game to your desktop.

Use the shortcut to play the game.

Let the cryptic launcher update the game, not steam.
