STO and it's "elite" endgame content is the easiest to master in any mmo I've played so far. Everthing you need to know about a certain encounter/event/STF can be explained in a single sentence.

Anyone not able to grasp the mechanics of an STF after just seeing it once should seriously consider going back to playing with toy blocks.

Accidently joined Normal Infected space.. saw no cubes and was confused for a second on where i was... the 4 others went nuts and started killing everything while I followed the normal routine. 2 on the right, 3 on left well was 3 he went right after the first generator popped. everyone ignored the 10%. ofcourse optional wasnt optional it was failed before the first shot fired. After it was over 3 of those said GG, 1 warped out before getting his prize.

Tell me how does doing that 25 times teach someone how to do it when everyone who knows how to do it goes direct to elite and 3/5 of a pug team thinks just finishing it is a good game?

Then when the accolade pops saying they can join elite.. guess where the clueless are going next? Yep right into the next elite they can because the accolade said they are prepared. Many of those who run non elite are not in a fleet or if they are it's a crap fleet who doesnt teach them anything and elite content is avoided by them because they don't like exploding with 1 hit kills and they get the 1 hit kills allot.

No an accolade and repeating content does not prepare one for elite, and the accolade saying they are qualified will just bring more of the clueless into elite. Solves nothing and will create a new problem.

It's not just the "they hit harder", there is quite a bit of "they need more hits to go pop" as well...

To wit - Cure space normal, my recluse can pop the waves of 2 negh'vars well before the next wave pops with only GW, tractor beam, & the Orb Weaver's web console for CC, and the "stock" widow fighters. I even get to use the traditional "none shall pass" black knight voice on them...

Try that in an elite, however...

Which is why you hear a lot of "normal pros" claim that you "don't need" to "save" the cubes till the end in CSE, until they fight off two waves of the hyper-raptors... And even then, if one of the "normal pros" has a 20k build, he'll be able to pop raptors like my recluse pops negh'vars...

Still at it. CBS "restrictions" fell by wayside with freebie Breen. Time to re-examine ENT and ToS at tier 5, repurpose the Connie into Sci and rebuild an Akira escort into the "NX". 6 "eras", spread evenly over all the classes...

Not everyone teams with an 80k DPS Scimitar for STFs.

As Jetwtf said, "Normal" in no way teaches you to complete an Elite. The "normal" folks are happy just to complete the mission. They actually apparently gg'ed merely for completing the thing without the optional. Nobody says that in Elite. If the optional is blown, people will file out at completion in silence with the understanding that this run sucked. What's more, the Cubes came pre-destroyed, apparently. This is quite shocking. How do you expect players to actually learn how the real thing works if the key enemies in the game aren't even there? I watched a Normal video...my first reaction was "Uh...where are the cubes?". In an Elite, when you warp in and the cubes are GONE, this is a warning sign that a disaster may already have occurred.

If I had to actually PLAY that, I would pass out in mid-mission from boredom. And would probably still out-perform the rest of the group face-down on the keyboard. A literal faceroll. I would rather just suck it up and deal with bad PUGs than play that crap.

You don't need a Scimitar. The 10% rule has just kinda faded because of the power creep. There's so much damage flying out that it doesn't really matter.

yeah...i know what you mean, just ran ISE lat night with a couple fleetmates from CoC, one nanite sphere got with in 2.5 km of a gen....didnt do a thing before i blew it up (using a BO avenger), while i wasnt doing huge DPS, it was sustained enough where it just didnt matter. I was more of the Blocker, keeping the nans away from the gen using TBR1....we still got it done with 8 mins left on the op.

Hey, long time no see Care to join me for a STF?

Actually, my opinion differs a little - I would blame the fleets, whose members are not up to the task. They should help their recruits that are new to STO or old players that haven't payed attention to their overall contribution in team content and want to improve.

been away for 3 months. sure, drop me a friend request, and you can see when I am up (not in the fleet roster anymore, even been kicked from the klink side) ^^

also, I did help a lot of our old fleetmates, but it was in the end not valued, so I just gave up.

but yes, there are also fleets who are just pure bad (I saw an old fleet that I almost forgot how bad they were), and they just spread this knowledge (I saw that first hand, could not do much about it)

so I do not think any accolade would help. maybe a popup would be helpful that there are actual STF channels or something, apart from having an accolade pop up, and nothing else.

we could even give Roxy some more dialogue so she tells some pretty good advice. I bet she is bored now, and has nothing to do
