# 1 Useless Traits?

I'm just getting into the character creator, so for those of you who were around for the beta... Are there any more or less unhelpful traits to avoid?

Not really. You just have to focus your traits around the skills or specialisation you expect to take. For example, if you wanted to have the advantages for being an tactical escort pilot and didn't mind having trait gaps for ground or other ship types, you might take Accurate, Efficient, Evasion, and Warp Core Theorist. Ground tactical specialist, you might go with Lucky, a couple of the various toughness ones or specialised damage ones/exploit improvers, and maybe a leadership one or stealth one. Engi or science or tanking or support builds would have different focuses. If you were going for general, 2 space and 2 ground traits to improve all round.

Be aware, a lot of traits are meta traits - they modify the effectiveness of skills or bonuses, but don't directly impact the stat, so without those skills or bonuses to improve, the trait is near useless.

One more question.. Do tactical officers get any stealth skills? I'd be interested to take that trait bonus, but I'd hate to pick it and find out my class won't use it.

Tactical officers, afair, are the only ones who get ground stealth skills. They get them from their kits.
