# 1 Warp Theorist is it working?
01-30-2010, 12:27 AM
Ive picked warp theorist for my char , but it seems it doesnt do anything usefull.
It says:

Space Trait. Improves your warp core stat, which increases the power levels of your ship.

Automatic Description:

Warp Theorist
Innate

* +10 Starship Warp Core Training

Shouldnt it increase my energy output efficiency like Starship Warp Core Training does?
So 50% energy put into shield should be 55%effective,no?
But then it doesnt do anything for my ship.

Does anybody know if it works or not and what does it do actually?

When you go to Warp flying in a Sector Block, it wouldnt show any bonuses to your power levels. - so that could be one of the reasons.

Up until the end of the beta it did work and it's increase would be noticeable in the ship's power management screen. What Geary says is correct though, so you may not see the effect if you are in sector space.

I'm not sure about the numbers, but yes, basically it boosts your power levels resulting in heightened efficiency. The effect is bigger on the lower power settings though.

I ve checked it in front of Earth Station ,not in sector space. And it didnt give anything.

How much should it give btw , 10% right? So at 50 energy for example shield will be 55 effective

Isnt 1 point in warp core training is 1% efficiency increase for power lvls?

long story short... no. Also you may need to invest a point in it to see the benefit.

The biggest bonus you will get out of it will be when you have your engines set to 25%. It will probably give you a 6, or so pointish increase to your engine power level at 25% up to like 31ish, but at 100% you would probably get like 1 point.

Based on other threads I have read anyway.

i have my power settings at 70/55/25/50 with warp core theorist and 9 skill in warp core training, my power levels are 70/57/32/53 so yes it does work iirc the bonus goes up slightly as you go up in tiers of ship, but i could be wrong

I wondered the same thing. I don't think it's working. I don't see any change in my power levels, but I did during OB.
