# 1 fed to be klingon

why do we have to waste hours doing fed missions if we want to be klingon? shouldnt we have the option from the start? i understood having to get to a certain fed level during the beta, but not headstart or live.

The reason they make you play through at least the very early stages of fed, is because there is no tutorial system in place for klingons, at least at the moment. When you go klingon you start at... lt. grade 6 I believe, so Since klingon is heavily PVP right now, cryptic believes giving would-be klingons the basics via the fed training before they embark down that path.

However in the latest content update article they state that a good chunk of klingon PVE is on the way, and I would guess that perhaps a tutorial is in the works as well so some can start klingon. Wouldn't bet on it, but would like to assume so.

The other reason is that they don't want anyone pvping before about level 6, so you have to learn how to do everything on the Fed side, and then you can jump across at about level 4 if you speed run the right missions, and start killing poor Feds to your heart's content.

jump, exactly, where to?
i think you're implying that there is an area where there is some sort of 'open PvP' where members of both factions can wander into and become flagged for pvp?
is this assumption correct? there is no such zone in existence in the game at this point.
look at your map, please. look where Qonos is. look at where the Federations starting zones are. we have a long way to go go start 'killing poor feds' dont we?
that is, of course, assuming that Klingons can enter Federation space. they cannot. notice at this point, Klingons have access to 2 sectors of space. count the number of sectors the federation has acces to.
maybe that's why you get your own tutorial-you have more content.
i dont believe the Fed tutorial teaches you everything you need to know about the game. they just teach you where most things are on the Federation side of the game.

There is one good thing about playing both fed and klink, if your fed isnt your main you can/should mail all your stuff your not using to your klink. That way once you get into your BoP you already have max weapons etc.

Your GORN starts at same level as the fed nuub you leveled up . So your not ' waisting ' time . This way there is just one tutorial and they dont have to code a totaly diffrent one for klingons .

Pluss you get to see just how crappy them fedaration ships are . Shure they got great fireing arcs and are awsume at standing off and delivering broadsides ... but no true warrior fights like that .

If you had flown the K'tinga or other Klingon battle cruisers you wouldn't be so down on the beam weapons. Cannons are great for the very fast turning ships like BoP and Raptors... and if you give up a console slot to an RCS upgrade then the K'tinga can turn good too, but seriously once in the larger battle cruisers you'll want the 180 degree cannons or a beam array as it's just not possible to keep cannons zeroed on an escort in a battle cruiser.

Plus if you gear properly those Beam Arrays can be very deadly on Klingon ships. But yeah I wouldn't use them on anything but the BC's.

dont forget the feds have battle crusers as well and in a cruser vs cruser fight i think 2 front mounted cannons with rapid will be better than 2 beams. annyway the dual heavys look cool ^^
