i was thinking that same thing the other day while playing khit with someone who only joined last year. :/ maybe they can still tie it in somehow? oh well.

in any case, i'm in full support of this idea. this game does need some nice long missions, and the original STFs were some of the best challenges and fun times i'd had in a group during those days. they really do need to add more long missions. REAL missions.

only thing i dont miss were the bugs on the original STFs. i dunno about anyone else, but being stuck with really long loading screens while the team runs off without me was a bit annoying. especially since i cant help it, i've already diverted all my comps resources to make STO load faster, what more do you want from me? :/

BTW full story line STF's , if you can actually make out what's being said at the Star Trek Online Developer Panel (Las Vegas 2013) , time index 34:20 , let me know ... .
I am loosing STO with each new system based update and with each removal and editing of content .

I know for a fact that the old STFs still exist, they have merely been "turned off" and made inaccessible. I propose reactivating them, for those of us who are actually skilled enough to complete them.

Revamp the rewards so they give more Omega marks than the current "elite" STFs.
Don't bother adding them to the PvE queuing system, we'll make our own teams.

Give us skilled players something to use our skills on... the no-skill whiner PUGs can keep the current "Elite" STFs and think they are great players.

Let me start by saying I'm not singling out the OP, I'm just using the line as an example. It in no way reflects the OP level of skill.

That said, do you know how many times I've heard "I'm a skilled player" this stuff is too easy, then you actually play an STF with them, and they're absolutely horrid. It's usually the people that say "I'm a skilled player" that ARE the current no-skill whiner elite pugs anymore. They're the ones that usually come in and blow up on the first cube or tac cube, then complain. They're the ones that'll ignore the team, then complain. Escorts that parse the lowest dps, cruiser drivers that don't use any of the comm array systems.

So while I agree with his statement in effect, this last line of the OP seriously makes me wonder, just because of my history with people that say "I'm a skilled player"

But then again, I'm not saying that the OP isn't a skilled player at all. It sounds like he or she is as frustrated as I am with the currently level of weekend STO players that have no idea.

If the OP has completed the original STF's and has fond memories of them as being challenging content (enough to request their reactivation) , that should be enough , no ?

Actually only one cruiser (the Avenger) has the comm array stuff for now (AFAIK) .
Plus the UI Devs have brilliantly put the comm array buttons on a part of a UI element that most ppl don't use (and have hidden) , thus the possibility that some Avenger captains not knowing that they have extra abilities may also happen .

Now if they only would have used the same UI that the Romulans use for their Singularity powers , things would be grand ... , but this is Cryptic ... .

ahh the old long stf arcs, how i miss those, with the right team you can do KAE in 40-45m and ending up orbiting QS for a while getting a team together, CE can be done in 15m, IE can be done in 30m. at least if people started orbiting sibiran and vorn looking for teams again, the old terradome stf would see the light of day again.

Propose something like a green ring around the 4 STF systems in GO, when a player ship goes inside that green ring it automatically queues them for that STF and they can choose hard or easy from the queue popup. the green ring goes for about 1LY out around each system.

anyone remembers the two gates on KAE, the two sets of enemies, probes and spheres, and the need to destroy one gate quickly before getting to the other one with the added attraction of 2 cubes escorting the probes. most teams failed at the first hurdle which made the whole thing great, you had to work as a team to get the job done.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 and LTS in Apr 2013.

I would've left the old STFs in and told all the whiners to shut up.
I'm glad that you have so much free time on your hands. Wait until you grow up.

The OP had a good idea - bring back the narrative STFs for those that want them, with scaled rewards vis-a-vis the "potted" versions. Give players options on how they achieve the results depending on time and inclination.

You could play the old STF chapter by chapter. You didn't need to complete them in one go...
Though it was often easier to find a team for a fresh Run than Infected ground portion or Cure space portion part 2.

I am 30 years old. I played the original STFs on the weekend because that was when everyone was looking for people to team with. I played the other stuff in the game on the days that i worked.

I think dumbing down content to satisfy a bunch of whiners is a stupid idea. If any new STFs are released, I hope they take 3 hours to beat cause I enjoy challenging missions.
Playing since launch in 2010.
