100s of players -versus- 100,000s of players. According to January 2013's anniversary infographic, "Star Trek: Online" had roughly two million captains.

In order to get to fifty percent, the number of players would need to be around one million. If the ground PvE queues are of any indication, the game's overall population has declined significantly. During this time each year, I think "Star Trek: Online" hits a slight lull.

I stopped ground PvP'ing the day I beamed into a started match, and all 5 of the other team, were jsut standing there blowing anyone up who respawned. Or the Ground version of Kerrat (virtually dead as far as I can see), where a guy was just sitting there, just dropping mines on the beam-in point, and just waiting for people to beam in... as soon as I beamed in ... Boom... I didn't get out of the beam in spot...ever.

I am not saying this doesn't happen in space... but far more often when I have played ground... and its a shame... the handful of times I didn't go up against a ground roflstomping team... I actually enjoyed it...

That's when we send a tell to CABrandt and Carmen and clear the spawn.

sounds like a fleet has a great opportunity to grow that aspect of sto,

will take some time to do, but one could create a fleet and make ground pvp its focus,

one could talk with new players and older players and show off what ground pvp has to offer

one could train others and share how good strategy works out in ground

I guess take matters into their own hands right?

or do you want cryptic to force us all to do ground pvp for a short while for some silly rep tree?

or cryptic to stomp out any advantage or build a group creates for ground pvp? make all ground pvp some sad fps? crappy maps with silly clunky interface and targeting, OH and not to forget the amazing early 2000's graphics they have for ground

a really honest thought tho, a big persistent war zone with many objectives to hold over a really massive map with vehicles would be pretty sweet, with people droping in and out and the computer auto balancing the sides regardless of faction, (klinks, roms, and fed all on the same sides)

that would make me actually take off my mk1 shield and sort out my ground tray for some ground pvp LOL
Just because it is not a cookie cutter escort does not mean it should not be in the game.

Win or lose, in the end it does not reflect on who you are as a person, in the end it is how you treat others that really reflects who you are.

Frankly, I didn't get into this game for the ground missions. I can barely put up with the storytline ones, much less pvp. If I wanna run around shooting people, I'll turn on my ps3 and get on modern warfare. Space combat is where its at.

Tier V New Romulus will give you the Plasma/Disruptor Hybrid weapons, but Tier III is all you need for the majority of Ground PvP. That really just leaves the actual leveling of a new character for ground PvP. Good news, it just so happens that Cryptic is running a double XP event at the moment.
I still have 3 klingons that I have dumped because of reputation. If i were to increase my grind time I will bring their rep up, not start an all new character for a game play that has not been proven in my experience. I had leveled a couple fed captains for gpvp right when Omega was introduced.

If we get account bound rep then I will pursue gpvp. I know it will happen eventually because 1 rep per season will kill new players commitmment, without diversity of having multiple toons.

From latest tribble patch notes:

Unequipping any kit will now instantly expire any buffs or debuffs granted by any power in that kit.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Bring a team if you don't want to chance it in the queues.

There are less than 50 persistent Twerkers in the disco at ESD!
This all happened... more, or less.

compare sto to any other game with
solo pve
team pve
organised team pve
sandbox pve(rom)
pvp
team pvp
organised team pvp
sandbox pvp (kerrat)

thats a LOT of different environments! even top of the line tripple a titles shy away from that due to the amount of work needed to get it all working.
and this games foundational mechanics cant scale to all of them without breaking as anyone killing suitbugs in the rom cave missions will find in short order.

doesnt help how obtrusive, slow and clunky the gui is either, all of which are in the way of sto competing as a matured game. especially as a pvp draw. since pvp needs the player to push the limits of the game to compete, having the clunky mechanics detracts from that very obviously.
