Plus there's the airplane versions that aren't sci-fi but have the escape from exploding hangars, blimps, etc. And then the boats getting out of blowing up buildings (James Bond did this a few times).

Really it's a very common thing.
Well, destroying something important and then getting out in the nick of time is very old, yes. But given that this is a very large spaceship, that earlier in the mission we have to do a trench run, and how often STO has ripped off Star Wars, yeah, pretty sure that's all the devs were thinking of, IMHO.

I guess they could, if they wanted to. But they're nomadic and non-aggressive, so they probably don't care about territory and conquest.

The Solanae sphere might be an exception because of the apparent abundance of Omega particles in there.

The Borg don't put all their eggs in one basket. One Unimatrix alone holds trillions of drones. The Borg probably have billions of Cubes.

And the Voth built a ship capable of running over the Unimatrix Command Ship without slowing.

EDIT: Seriously, that thing is it's own Zip Code x5
Cruisers do not suck at DPS and Escorts are not Tanks. If you think this, you need to reread the definition of Tank.

At three kilometers a Borg cube holds 130,000 drones so that makes the Fortress ships crew to be in the Billions by my estimate.

Or roughly the same number of Borg I've blown up in STF's.

The fortress ship kills the first reason always given for not allowing the Enterprise-J into the game.

Why exactly do people WANT that hideous thing?

Besides, it's irrelevant, we're not in that time frame, and it wouldn't be a usable ship anyway, it'd be a stationary object like this Voth... thing.
