I'm suprised it took this long to go down. Just like every other MMO that came out, the beginning isn't exactly the most stable thing around. There will be crashes and bugs. They will (hopefully) work it out (relatively) fast. It's not the first MMO that crashed right after it came out, it certaintly won't be the last. Games these days simply come out in a mostly beta format with the hope that they get money from the early guys and we (should) get quick fixes to keep us happy.
1 crash is not exactly something to worry about. If it does this a dozen times over the next 3 days, I'll be asking for time owed, and start worrying.
Scheduled Maintenance (January 30, 2010)
We will be bringing down Star Trek Online on Saturday, January 30th from 3:00AM PST to 5:00AM PST in order to perform maintenance, and apply a patch to further optimize server performance. We will update this thread once this maintenance has been completed.
The Star Trek Online Team
This down time was earlier in the day 11am til 1pm GMT
you can't fix server stability issues with them online. You can't keep people playing if you only run a global server. For the love of christ give us servers that suit our time zones and perform maintenance on them in sequence.
However there are no complaints from me. Servers go offline all the time. The trolls would find some way to complain if there was 100% uptime ( You don't even get close to that in the most established MMOs)
So sorry, obvious troll is obvious and must try harder. Downtime is not equatable with broken.
scheduled down time from 3am to 5am... on the 30th.. was a LONG time ago since its like 12:30pm there now.
this was NOT scheduled down time
Fair enough, I didn't read it closely enough. Still, this doesn't really concern me. I was prepared for far worse things to happen during launch, from the stories I have heard about other launches. I was able to play for several hours yesterday with only minor rubberbanding and had a blast, so I wasn't too upset when I tried to log on a little while ago and found the servers were down. It's only the second day of launch.
