Does anyone have any insights?

Thank you for reading.
Actually, while Data does a lot of Science officer stuff, he's technically the Ops officer which is under the engineering/security division which would use the yellow uniform. I don't think he wore red because his primary function wasn't a command role as was the 1st officer and of course the captain.

*EDIT I think waaaaay too much about these things LOL

and while you're at it, let me swap any federation logos, like banners, floor signs & flags, for my fleet's logo.

Didn't they say they were gonna do something like that when they added more ship interior stuff?

This would be great.

We also need more than one "off duty" uniform slot for our Captains.

I think a lot of the color confusion is born from the fundamental difference in divisions between actual Trek and STO.

STO claims 3 divisions: Tactical (Red), Engineering (Yellow) and Science (Blue)

However, going off of "Prime" Trek (TNG on) the divisions are bit more...esoteric.
Command (Red), Operations (Yellow) and Science (Blue) with the science subset Medical (Greenish)

Worf (and LaForge) in season 1 of TNG wore red as they were both junior officers (Lieutenant Junior Grade on both iirc). After the death of Natasha Yar (TNG: Skin of Evil) Capt. Picard chose to promote an officer from within the ship, moving a junior command officer (who would by nature be more or less an adaptable personnel, and would perform many functions, hence red shirted Tuvok underlings) which meant that Worf was promoted and transferred to Operations once his temporary assignment as Security Chief was made permanent. Operations basically means just that, shipboard operations, ranging from security (security is not equal to a soldier necessarily) to engineering (Geordie). Geordie's promotion to ship's engineer is seen in the first episode of Season 2 (The Child)

These multilayered roles are quite common in real military structuring, especially in more insular branches like the U.S. Coast Guard, but would be hard to translate effectively into MMO classifications, hence the change.

That ALLLLLL being said... I would kill to have a shipwide standard uniform. My BOs can have some range of customization, but the remaining "no names" aboard the bridge (and now throughout the ship) think theyre better than me and can wear whatever they want. Well instead of futuristic motorcycle jackets, my Captains standing orders clearly say the uniform of the day is to be the DS9/VOY uniform! Standards must be upheld!

Totally signed.

I'll also ask that we can get said uniform put on the NPCs who beam down via the Security Escort power; as it feels truly awkward bringing down people in a very different uniform compared to my own.

Actually on this note...

You suppose we could also specify say... ratios of given races of crew members? And specify types of custom aliens that could be aboard your ship in-quantity? Because my ship (for background reasons) is about 65% crewed by my custom species; yet other than on the bridge, I'll never see another member of my species, which is kind of unfortunate <;_;>

It would be nice to save templates for the BOs for one click customization based on their role. For shipwide: a mix of a player selected saved templates for the randomly generated crew

I'd like to see the uniform creation revamped slightly...I know that saving costumes now also includes saving hairstyles, body and facial adjustments, etc.. but I'd like to see them be just uniform specific so I can make a change and not have to manually tweak every BO in my inventory (and subsequently on ship)
