Yeah, I'm not griping about the servers being down. Life is like that, things can be going good, then an office party gets a little crazy and an intern who has had to much celebratory beverage trips over a cord and causes data to be lost in the middle of a live patch.
However, if I'm wasting my time sitting here all afternoon hoping the server will come back up it would be nice to have an estimated time of arrival, ETA, for me to arrive back at my desk to load up the launcher. This way, I can still go be productive during the downtime of the server and not feel like I'm missing out so much.
Example, Cryptic gives us a 2 hour window. I take 2 hours and go run errands, do some work, type a paper etc. 2 hours goes by and I come back to see if server is up. If so, I proceed to play. If not, a new listed ETA, would tell me what the new established timeframe is expected to be and I take appropriate counter-measures to fill that new window with other productive work.
Like the OP said in his follow up post. If it isn't coming back up till Monday, fine, just tell us. Sure some people will be made about it, but they'll have time to do other things. Not as bad as losing half a day and then finding out the server isn't coming back up until Monday.
It would just go a long ways with the community to know more than as soon as possible. We would expect "as soon as possible" to be a given. Not like their all going to leave for the night and get back to fixing the server after they've had some sleep.
