USS Arthur Clarke one of the three "Giants" of SF writers from the 20th Century. Other ship names will follow a similar vein.

Mine was the USS Sentinel. Named after My old Lug Trek Ambassador Class Ship. captained that thing for 18 years before it got blown up by the Hur'Q. total roleplay nerd here.

Other ship is the USS Tantalus. Another Nod to a Star trek rpg i play. it was a Galaxy class.
Origin of ships name: Pondering Mind

Reason: I liked the sound of it.

Currently captaining the USS Flor de la Mar, Constitution (Refit) class, named for Dom Francisco de Almeida's flagship at Battle of Diu.

All my ships are named for notable historical warships from countries that don't have a canon Federation ship named after one of theirs.

USS Hazard, one cold night I was playing Star Trek Starfleet Command when one of the ships I acquired had that exact name. I know it's not exactly the most assuring name but heck, the name just stuck with me XD
