Miranda class - USS Vigilant. I figured my Miranda was ~115 years old and so I tried to pick a name that was consistent with the name of the Reliant back in that time.
Constitution/Excalibur class - USS Masamune. I decided that all Excalibur classes should be named after swords (or have to do with swords).
Dakota class - USS Paladin. I just liked the name of the Holy Knight.
Galaxy class - USS Andromeda. I wanted my Galaxy class named after a galaxy and Andromeda - though not terribly original - sounded good.
They are the names of all the Iowa Class Battleships, that at one point in time, were used by the United States Navy. I have no idea what I'm going to name my Tier 5 Cruiser though. Lol. I've run out of names.
My Tier 1-3 ship names were picked from existing or retired US Naval ships, but I really liked the name "Odysseus" for my Galaxy class. Seemed fitting for an "exploration cruiser".
The Tier 5 ship I will have to give some thought. The greek names are appealing to me.
Here's my list of characters and their ships, and the reason behind their names:
Character Ship
BG5 Be'toQ Blood Oath
The name Blood Oath was chosen so as to be banner declaring Be'toQ's dedication to Klingon victory in the war with Starfleet and against any enemy of the Empire.
RA5 Torrix Gungnir
The name "Gungnir" is the name of the mightiest spear, wielded by the Allfather Odin. The ship Gungnir is named so, as the Starfleet Advanced Escort class ship is the spearhead of the Federation fleet, and the vanguard of any battle group.
KDF LC Khel Batlh'avwl
Translated this ship's name means "Honor Guard" or "Guardian of Honor"
SF Cmdr K'tal Pathfinder
This Starfleet science vessel seeks far and wind and leads the way for reconnaissance for Starfleet.
SF Lt. Ra'sek Gettysburg
This Starfleet cruiser is named after an ancient battlefield on Earth, considered the greatest battle fought by Americans, where 170,000 casualties occurred when Americans fought each other in civil war. The ship is name thus in honor of the resilience and fortitude of the warriors who fought in this battle.
My Miranda was named Indefatigable, after the H.M.S. Indefatigable, from Haratio Hornblower.
My Nova is named Procyon, after the battle of Procyon V shown in ENT: Azati Prime. Mainly for the reason that the nova class was still there and kicking derrière.
I've kept the same name all the way through for my science officer, USS Chavasse. After Noel Chavasse, a British Army doctor in WW1, one of only 3 people in 150 years to win the Victoria Cross (Britain's highest award for valour) twice.
My engineer is in the USS Chard, after John Chard, another holder of the VC. He was the Royal Engineers officer in command of the garrison at Rourke's Drift.
My tac officer's ship is USS Inayat, after Noor Inayat Khan. She was a member of the British Special Operations Executive who served as an agent in occupied France in WW2, she was eventually captured, refused to break under interrogation and was killed in Dachau. She was awarded the George Cross, which ranks alongside the Victoria Cross in status but is awarded under different circumstances.

How about the USS Montana... for the next class of WWII battleships.. but the class of ships was canceled...
Oh and I'll redo my name list as I haven't posted it in a while...

Livingstone - Famous Explorer/doctor.. (Doctor Livingstone I Presume)
Oak Ridge - Energy Lab in the US (worked on the Atomic Bomb in WWII)
Watson - Of Sherlock Holmes
Uss Assimilated, currently the Assimilated-C Captain is a borg so it seemed appropriate
USS Kandahar- in honour of the troops of all nations who are in Afghanistan
USS Loader- nickname I got at work from the drywallers
USS Bungwalliland- Mythical African colony where we based a set of miniature rules I wrote and I still like the name
