I am using my postings from when I was in the USAF. All are escorts, except for the Lackland which was the light cruiser.

USS Lackland ----------------------------------> Lackland AFB, where I received basic training
USS Sheppard ---------------------------------> Sheppard AFB, technical training
USS Keesler ------------------------------------> Keesler AFB, more technical training

Two more tiers and two more posts to go.

I've used the following names for ships on my main character:

U.S.S. Maia
U.S.S. Electra
U.S.S. Celaeno
U.S.S. Taygeta
U.S.S. Alcyone
U.S.S. Asterope

That was the sequence of starter and science ships -- the names are those of the Pleiades -- the seven sisters, daughters of Atlas and Pleione in Greek Mythology, but also the most prominent stars in the Pleiades star cluster.

I also played around with a tier 4 and tier 5 escort to see what they were like. For those, I looked to names from the Hyades -- another star cluster, and in mythology, the half-sisters to the Pleiades. Those were:

U.S.S. Phaesyle
U.S.S. Phaeo

The names themselves vary depending upon the source. They've been around for a very long time and different accounts use different variations. (Especially the Hyades, it seems.) I just picked the ones that worked out the best for me.

U.S.S. Colonial (Miranda class)
Named after a 23rd century Miranda precursor I designed while living in Cologne, also for BSG.

U.S.S. Belafonte (25th century Constitution refit)
Named for Steve Zissou's Belafonte from 'The Life Aquatic'.

U.S.S. Quadriga (Cheyenne class)
Named for the a type of four-horse chariot in antiquity (because of the four nacelles).

If anybody needs starship names, post in my alien name thread (see sig). I'll research names by whatever parameters you have.

Well, my main vessel was the USS Mjolnir, because I'm...how can I put this...sort of obsessed with Norse mythology.

However, that is my Fleet Escort. I recently decided to pick up a secondary Tier 5 vessel, so that I could be a little more diverse, should the need ever arise. Specifically, my fleet needed more Cruisers. So, I purchased the Assault Cruiser and promptly named her the USS Vanilla Ice.

I only wish I could make her a convertible. That way, I could put the ragtop down so my hair can blow.

USS Starstalker (NCC-2117) was the prototype for the Starstalker-class patrol cruiser. The design comes from a great fan book: Starfleet Prototype; The Journal of Innovative Design and Ideas - Issue 25: 2291-2292.

... asll I had to do was drop the 9 at the start of the sequence and there we have it... new Attack Cruiser.

I must say I was very very disappointed today when I tried to name my ship USS Truth or Consequences and it didn't fit in.
