# 1 STO Hardware and Configuration
01-30-2010, 02:17 PM
I'm quite interested in software / hardware side of this MMO, and I was thinking, if it's possible for someone from Cryptic (in free time) to post what hardware/software and in what configuration is used to support STO. Obviously, if it is a secret I'll not continue on this subject.

Thanks in advance, most appreciated.

Almost every MMO company keeps their server/network details private for a number of reasons.
Odds are you've got a number of servers with different tasks/ A few database servers, some bridge (connector) systems, a couple of chat servers (keeping in mind that STO & CO have cross communication), their web servers are tied into the cryptic packaged products (mail, database account access), a billing server, and a number of door/shard servers. There's a high chance these are all running under a virtual machine system for scalability reasons.
